Dave East wants you to know he's not a revivalist. The Harlem native has been waiting patiently under the wing of his mentor (and his label head at Mass Appeal), Nas. Their latest collaboration, "Forbes List," has horror-movie piano that could be pinned in any era, but East's dead-eyed gaze is fixed firmly ahead. The Young MC also manages to coax a vintage verse out of Mr. Escobar. East's Gangsta Grillz tape, Hate Me Now, drops Oct. 2, complete with contributions from Styles P, Pusha T and more. No word on whether Steve Stoute will be involved.
