If he weren't a rapper, Casey Veggies would spend a lot of time on LinkedIn. (Maybe he does anyway.) The Inglewood native built his brand--and in the post-recession world, your brand is your self and your self is your brand--through strategic partnerships with other rappers. The shrewd part of the plan is he would use each bigger MC as a specific kind of foil for himself: On tour with Mac Miller, Casey had inner-city bona fides; he was appealing on the peripheries of Odd Future because he was just as buoyant a personality, with more conventional Los Angeles raps. But for all his thoughtful alignment, Veggies has also built a solid catalog, quietly and meticulously. To that end, he's going back to a song that was released an entire year ago just for a one-minute video treatment. Here, "They Boy" gets the full animated run-down, complete with dodged calls from your girl and plaintive threats from parked cars.
