What do you do when your movie franchise about male strippers loses both Matthew McConaughey and Steven Soderbergh? Well, you cast Donald Glover and have him cover Bruno Mars songs on the soundtrack. At least, that's what the producers of Magic Mike XXL did: For the sequel to the Soderbergh-directed, Channing Tatum-starring surprise hit from 2012, Iron Horse Entertainment was forced to retool its cast and crew. Glover is best known for his role as Troy Barnes in NBC's Community and for his music--first referential and irreverent, now artful and aloof--made under the name Childish Gambino. However, Glover drops the nom de rap for the Magic Mike XXL soundtrack, using his government ID for a cover of the Bruno Mars hit "Marry You." The soundtrack, which drops along with the film this week, also features contributions from Ginuwine, R. Kelly and Jodeci. Because why wouldn't it?
