With Jeremih's third solo effort, Late Nights: The Album due out July 17 via Def Jam, his fellow budding R&B star August Alsina is trying his hand at "Planes," the album's J. Cole-featuring, Vinyl-produced single. Alsina leaves the original mostly intact, but adds his own autotuned flair, making the already kinetic play as if it's at an even faster clip. The New Orleans singer dropped his debut album, Testimony, last summer to mostly positive reviews. Testimony (also a Def Jam release) featured contributions from Jeezy, Pusha T, Yo Gotti, Fabolous, Rick Ross and more. Last month, Alsina underwent surgery to save the diminishing vision in his right eye.
