GoldLink's recent output has been a series of left turns. Mr. "GoldLink god, motherfuck my opponents" is back from the depths of the DMV with his new single, the Falcons-produced "Vroom." The cut samples Missy Elliott, who has been back in the news recently in the wake of her Super Bowl performance; the mysterious GoldLink is angling for a different kind of cultural durability. Rather than marketing his image, the God Complex rapper is "always sober," hiding behind masks and RSS feeds as he steadily builds a national fanbase. Things have been working out--GoldLink was recently tapped by the revered Rick Rubin to come through for some recording sessions. You can catch the young upstart at next month's SXSW festival in Austin.
