When iLoveMakonnen whispered his way onto every Macbook in America last year, it was as a curiosity. Is he singing? Rapping? Why does he have such a permissive work schedule? If you find Makonnen confounding even after the Grammy nods and the OVO deal, fellow Atlanta chill courtesan Father might help put him in the proper context. The latter enlisted the "Tuesday" singer for the remix to the title track from his Young Hot Ebony; the new version of the song also features Rich Po Slim.

Released late last summer, the full-length Young Hot Ebony is a cramped, sweaty set that invests equal amounts of time (read: a lot) in playing with vocal tones and haranguing the plug. Father flits between mumbled off-hand remarks and cock-eyed half-threats; the effect is hypnotic. Makonnen is actually one of his only analogues. So beyond the shared identity of being Atlantan up-and-comers, a collaboration between the two is the natural endpoint of their respective press runs. Their previous duet, "Look At Wrist," was a major hit among people who own styrofoam cups and have Soundcloud bookmarked.

The "Young Hot Ebony" remix doubles down on the tongue-in-cheek energy of the first. Taunting dates by threatening to revoke their Grammy tickets is the new dating move for 2015.
