Vic Mensa continues his run of bringing bulletproof raps to EDM-leaning settings, this time on DJ/producer Kaytranada's new single, "Drive Me Crazy." The song is set to appear on the latter's upcoming album, which is to be released through XL.

When Chance The Rapper was launched into the rap blog stratosphere, he brought with him Vic, his similarly precocious sidekick from Chicago. Two years ago, they were two sides of the same coin--witty, language-obsessed kids who could sneak some fatalism in before math class. Since then, the two have taken opposite paths; after Acid Rap, Chance retreated to Los Angeles and to his live band, The Social Experiment, with whom he has mostly eschewed the more biting raps that earned him his buzz. Vic, on the other hand, has grown more and more vicious as a no-frills wordsmith.

From 2013's INNANETAPE to his current singles hot streak, the 2014 XXL Freshman has been insatiable. Now, he has teamed up with Haitian-Canadian DJ and producer Kaytranada for a single from the latter's upcoming LP. "Drive Me Crazy" is a tour-de-force for both. Vic's syllables are measured and in the pocket, then they're darting across the hi-hats, then they're an arrogant legato, then back to square one. Nimble as ever, Mensa buys Nike stock and laughs at his parole officer, getting his homies beat placements when he's feeling generous.

This is not the first collaboration between Vic and Kaytranada: the two previously linked up for "Wimmie Nah," last August's bird call ad-libbed-out banger.

The Montreal DJ is currently a resident at BBC Radio 1.
