"My management like, 'Hold up, YG!'/ I'm like, 'I ain't waiting on you!'" YG is barking at the camera, readjusting his watch and pantomiming automatic weaponry. This year was about YG the success story—the kid from Compton who made good, who the major labels couldn't change. The years on the shelf paid off; My Krazy Life, his Def Jam debut, was uncompromising, all DJ Mustard keys and inscrutable slang. But even with the plaques and the bills ("Imagine how these wack rappers feel!"), YG has had enough of the machine. In the video for "2015 Flow," he's back—a movie and $20 sacks for 15.

Though YG has "that Sundance vision," it's Mustard who brings the cinematic flair, with string sections that stab like jagged shanks. In just two minutes, the Grammy snub is a distant memory. No hooks, no strippers, just nines in front of your mom and money strewn on the floor.
