With Inherent Vice, the film adaptation of Thomas Pynchon's surf-noir novel, in theaters, it seems as good a time as any to talk about Warm Brew. Venice Beach is a tourist destination, but behind the kale salad gentrification is a strong undercurrent of seediness. It's unsurprising that Warm Brew hail from Santa Monica and Venice, the ocean-front towns begetting a particular brand of weirdo.

The video for "Can Ya Blame Me?" has the duo acting like wonderfully post-modern rappers. Ray Wright wears a Raoul Duke-style outfit in a Paul Thomas Anderson-worthy motel room, Manu Li interrupts what looks like a Church youth group, knocking a Bible out of someone's hands, and Serk Spliff totes a rifle, dressed like the lost Blues Brother. If you're looking for blunted, eccentric rap, Warm Brew is for you, watch above.
