Atmosphere broke through nationally nearly 15 years ago with Lucy Ford; since then, the Minneapolis duo has released six retail albums and at least twice as many side projects. They've toured the globe and built their independent label, Rhymesayers Entertainment, into a model of stability in a decaying market. But don't call them lucky.

In the new video for "Fortunate," from this spring's Southsiders, Slug and Ant are all handshakes and blank stares. Filmed as fans lined the streets before a show at The Palladium in Los Angeles—on Ant's birthday, no less—the two glide through the sea of supporters, Slug collecting gifts, Ant clutching his cake. And the opening line ("I highly doubt that y'all think about sex/Anywhere near as often as I think about death") is definitively Atmosphere.
