MMG has developed a loose relationship with dancehall over the past few years. The most notable strand of that relationship is Wale and Magazeen's partnership. The two linked up on "Keep Running Back," "Black Panamera" and "Twerkin Cyrus." "My Town" finds that partnership still going strong.

Wale's isn't rapping for the sake of simply rapping with a dancehall artist here. His better lines has him riding political angst: "We could never trust a bitch or no politician/ That's why I spittin' tryna get it anyway I'm livin'/ Patriotism ain't beneficial, nigga wear your pistol." "My Town" isn't a showstopper, but it again shows the Caribbean-Africa combo works.
