Chance the Rapper has come a long way. In June of 2013 the Chicago MC/producer/songwriter conducted an AMA on Reddit, and when asked what his dream collaboration would be, he answered, "Kanye West." Perhaps you've heard - Chance got his wish.

On paper, Chance is head and shoulders above the rest of the competition. He was opening for Eminem on tour in 2012, and by 2015 he became the first independent rapper to ever hit the Saturday Night Live stage. He teamed up with Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment to release Surf, the first ever free album download available on iTunes, and followed that with a free single on iTunes, "Angels," which he debuted on 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.'

And then there's the music itself. Ever since his debut 2012 mixtape 10 Day, Chance has emerged as one of the most distinct and unique voices in rap right now. His delivery is inflected with all types of leaps, hops and bounds, while his production often incorporates Chicago juke and gospel influences. His biggest song to date ("Sunday Candy") is about going to church. Oh, and he's never released a proper album. Nobody is running the independent rap game like Lil' Chano.
