Producer Disco D, born David Shayman, comitted suicide earlier today (January 23) XXLMAG.COM has learned. He was 27 years old. Shayman, who grew up in Ann Arbor Michagan, made a name for himself as a DJ in area nightclubs and purveyor of mix cd’s while he was still in high school. He first got widespread notoriety in the hip-hop community as a result of his work on the 50 Cent song “Ski Mask Way” from The Massacre. More recently, D contributed tracks to albums for Trick Daddy, Lil Scrappy and Crime Mob. Far from just a beatmaker, Shayman also held a degree with honors from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.

You’re the one who a fuckin’ idiot, you stupid asshole! However delusional and senseless you are for deny that suicide is for weaklings?
Taking one’s life is devoid of true courage! It’s really cowardly and childish. think of what it brings to loved ones!
There’s nothing glamorous and fascinating about suicide. It never solves problems.
And don’t think that you know everything because claiming that you do makes you a small-minded dickhead who doesn’t deserve to have friends.
Are you trying to encourage others to commit suicide? If so, you’ll pay for it! Hell, you might even be arrested for getting others to kill themselves.
You may think that you’re all cool and stuff. But deep down inside, you’re most likely a lonely and insecure fucker who’s devoid sensitivity and inconsideration for others.
I’m warning you that if you continue this attitude of yours, you’ll make lots of enemies and no one will want to be with you.
If you tell me off for what I told you, THEN SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!
What a haughty and selfish dipshit you are. You sound like your parents didn’t raise you well. Hell, they probably taught you the wrong kind of stuff.
But if you insist on being a big jerk, then may lots of bad fortune and no good fortune come to you.
And if you insist on committing suicide, go ahead. I don’t think that anyone will miss you. I sure won’t.

I took some time to fall back off the situation and watch things unfold after one of my good friends died. I’m sitting here feeling, seeing, reading, the craziest things I’ve ever in my entire life. I watched people cry about Dave. People curse Dave for leaving. And people just not give a damned to degree of only wanting to find out the most gruesome details…And I need to get some shit off my chest.
Suicide because of that ?
It’s easy to apply someone else’s problems to yourself and how you in your right mind would handle them. You can say oh we broke up so what…or money this so what…of course its easy. Its easy for me and a lot of other people to deal with the most #ucked up things in life…right?
Well at times it wasn’t for me and I felt like I was gonna just burst. Like there was no means to an end to the stress and BS associated with your family, the industry and NYC. But then you know what happends…your friends step in…they calm you down they make you feel reassured and they give you hope and help you reason. And that reasoning is what you have to hold on to and make it thru whatever ails you.
Guess what friend did that for me?
Dave Shayman aka Disco D
Dave was the best kind of friend someone could ask for…why? not cause he made beats…not cause he was skilled or famous. But because he tried. Despite his own issues personal and mental/physical, he spent a lot of time connecting people and bringing people up and putting people on…personally and musically.
Why suicide?
I can’t answer on exactly why, but I can give a pretty good assumption thats a lot better the default “im stronger than this dude so i woulda did” comments i see all over.
Manic Depression and Bi-Polarity
Google it. wiki it. whatever you want.
Just put some sense to it and know whats good the next time you hear those words and hopefully its not because its someone close to you that struggles with it.
And once you find out about it you’ll learn a few things that will give a better perspective on why it doesn’t matter if youre rich, famous, poor, infamous, or whatever else good or bad is going on in someones life. You’ll also see that mental health isn’t taken as seriously as it should be in this first world country.
It can be as minor as mood swings or as large as not being able to control your feelings/thoughts.
Who do you ask for help from that?
Your friends can tell you hey its not that bad or don’t worry this or that minor event will get better…but whats that really gonna do? You’re friends can also go as far as worrying about you every waking minute of the day and keeping you engaged and hoping you can stay focused on doing what you do best…which is ironic because ski mask and the zillion other things he managed and created besides that all came from a similar place….something like a catch22
And for whatever reasons my friend wasn’t able to focus his energy anymore…that big ass Disco D lazer didnt work anymore and from then on it was like he was suffering. I could have swore slowly but surely that beam was about to pop off again soon…but it didnt.
Memories…
I learned a few things from Dave Shayman that Disco D never spoke about. Disco D would teach you some off the charts production techniques…but Dave Shayman had another message.
Feelings
One day two years ago…during the time when i uncontrollably stressed and on the verge of madness…Dave comes over to me and says “you know all the technical stuff…thats the easy part in doing what we do. But its about feeling…you have to be able to take the impulses that come from your brain and how you feel and translate them into art…into the music… Its the way to get it out of your system..if you’re angry thats your song…if you’re in love thats your song…make it your song…don’t keep it stuck inside. Once you can do that youre pretty much unstoppable…no one can hurt you.”
From that point on everything was okay…until now.
Now…
I’m in a group of people wondering what to do next…we’re all missing that tie that binds us together. That one unique individual that brought everyone together through love, skills, and the grind. And i know we wont ever forget who Disco D really was and how he changed our lives…and that we will continue to spread D’s beliefs about helping people and connecting people. And Positive outlooks on life will returning happiness.
And thats all I guess…not much more to say…time to express it in the music.
Disco D Forever. 1 Love Homie.

I dont know who this guy was because im into house music, im sad to see him go. But not suprised over everyones obession with success and superficiality. Why do scientists want to blame depression on being bi polar? Why cant people take responsibilty for other peoples unhappiness? This system we got is fucked up. Its all about keepin up with apperances, money, successes. Its all about being better than the next. Having more than your brothers and sisters- and im not talking about your immediate family.
When someone committs suicide we all think it was there problem. Its our problem people! How many people seem like they have it all? only to take there own life because they see that its a tired ass illusion. Im sure if people didnt have so much competion and there hearts in the wallets and egos of others. they would have stuck around alot longer. But its all about the party! The booty. The gratification of the egos darkest desires. Until we learn to cultivate the Spirt of one another. Some people wont be able to take it.
Superficiality leads you to unhappiness and no where.
Sure had he been working with the less fortunate he would have seen how amazing his own life was.

This is before he made it big and when he was just dj’ing parties in peoples basements. I always knew he would make it big because he had that drive and talent.
I just recently found out he passed away. Im was very dissapointed to hear this. Never take your life or your loved ones life for granite because you never know when its your time to leave. Take time out to show people you care. Its good to see all of the nice things people have to say about Disco D but maybe he needed hear this when he was still living. Maybe I’m wrong??? Fuck you, Danny! You’re telling him to show respect but you deny that suicide’s for weaklings? What a hypocrite you are!
You’re the one who should be showing respect because you sound like you want others to kill themselves. Newsflash: SUICIDE NEVER SOLVES ANYTHING BECAUSE IT’S COWARDLY AND WORSE THAN CHILDISH!!!
MOE GREENE is right, if you hadn’t noticed. He’s truthful that suicide is for weaklings.
People who kill themselves don’t have the strength to handle their problems well. If you have a problem, you try to solve it as best as you can. But to kill yourself is one of the wrong ways to solve your problems.
Think about what I told you the next time a situation like this comes.
