• XXcLusive: Gucci Mane Speaks From Jail, Says Album Set For Dec.

Tuesday Nov 17 4:52 PM CST posted by xxl staff

Moments ago XXLMag.com received a copy of a Gucci Mane’s first official statement since getting sentenced to 12 months in Georgia’s Fulton County Jail last Thursday (November 12) for violating his parole.

“I have accepted full responsibility for my actions and I am ready to deal with what is in front of me right now,” wrote Gucci, born Radric Davis. “Thankfully, my label is still moving forward with my album release so I will have plenty to look forward to when I get out. I am remaining positive and want my fans to know that I am grateful for their loyalty and continued support. I will get through this.”

Gucci’s attorney, Dwight Thomas, spoke on his client’s state of mind and how the Atlanta rapper avoided getting the maximum sentence.

“In court, Mr. Davis was extremely articulate and he was remorseful for his conduct,” wrote Thomas, via statement. “He was able to convince the courts that he was not deserving of the two year prison sentence he was facing.”

Despite Gucci’s recent incarceration, Asylum/Warner Bros. Records is pressing forward with the release of Gucci’s first major album, The State vs Radric Davis, on December 8. The LP includes features from Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, Keri Hilson, Keyshia Cole and Usher among others.

Currently behind bars, Gucci is eligible for release in six months or less for good behavior.

Stay tuned to XXLMag.com as this story continues to develop. —Anslem Samuel

    @gkid12345

I was thinking the same thing, but if we see that, then you know the label does.

Continue to milk his buzz (which we know is real strong), keep leaking music (we know that cat has songs) & keep his name out there with the blogs & magazines & radio, & the only angle that would lack is touring. That would effect him monetarily, no doubt, but that doesn’t necessarily mean his “fans” will forget, especially if this album lives up to the hype surrounding it.

I’m not a fan, but really, dudes in a position to not only write some quality songs, but plot his next strategic move(s) without a bunch of gun holders & yes men all in his ear. If he has good sense, he may come out of this situation stronger than he went in.

The next smart move would be to sit with Jeezy, as men, & hash out their differences. No cameras, no crews, just 2 street cats who need to sort through some serious shit. If they don’t handle that situation, that situation will most definitely handle them…

Niggas may not be happy about it, but Gucci’s in the driver’s seat. It’s very hard to argue with popularity. No ceilings @ the moment, although a lot can change in 6 months.

I totally agree, Gucci has been through this before and i think the last time he got locked up it completley changed him for the better, i noticed before his last incarceration he was really sloppy with his ryhmes like he was fucked up when he wrote them or something, but when he came out he really stepped it up and wanted to move in a better direction, so i think this time around he’s really gonna focus on the game plan and he’s gonna make the most out of his situation, i can promise you guys were gonna see gucci take his career to the next level when he gets out

@Tony Grands (and Caino who cosigned that bs)

GTFOH. Ngga, its jail..Its not the movie Malcolm X where u go to jail and get enlightned and find yourself.

Pac, yes TUPAC, a guy ith 100x more mental depth and talent, even said while in jail he didnt write 1 lick b/c it takes all drive OUT of u.

Of course everybody is different, but when u go from top of the world to bottom, regardless of how much of a street ngga u are, that shyt aint all peaches. Plot ur next move? Ngga his moves were plotted and paved w/ gold lol He had a lil wayne buzz.

Combine the fact that he obviously has no content and has a microwave buzz, 6 months of sitting is the worst thing that can happen to him. Shyt, in 6 mo. Myspace went from top of the world to Facebook’s bytch. In 6 months twitter went from ho hum to @evrybody, in 6 months Drake went from the corny light skin ngga wit lil wayne to…the light skin lil wayne

    Think about that.

    LA Pharaoh says:

At the above. Firstly, everyone has a ceiling.
Secondly, Gucci Mane is more talented than East Coast artist like Juelz and Cory Gunz, who have more lyrical ability. But the content is about the sam elevel and the emotional connection with the audience is strong with Gucii, unlike many artist today
