50 Cent stopped in Boston Monday night (November 2) to screen his new film, Before I Self Destruct, the rapper’s directorial debut, which bears the same title as his long-delayed upcoming album.
The G-Unit boss arrived with a small entourage in tow and briefly spoke to fans about trying to top previous accomplishments with the flick. “I’ve been under the pressure of competing with my own success since 2003,” Fif said. “I constantly try to raise the bar and make something bigger and better than last time.”
The screening included the video for his latest single, “Baby By Me,” and a trailer for the documentary 2 Turntables and a Mic: The Life and Death of Jam Master Jay, which will be packaged with his new disc.
BISD depicts 50 Cent as Clarence, a one-time basketball star who resorts to a life of crime after his mother is gunned down, fueled partly by revenge as well as the need to support his younger brother.
The film features heavy doses of 50’s new music along with brief appearances from Treach of Naughty by Nature and G-Unit member Lloyd Banks, who plays a schoolteacher.
Monday night’s limited screening drew about 275 people, most of whom won tickets on local radio station JAM’N 94.5.
On the first night of his 10-city promo tour viewers seemed very much engaged. “It wasn’t bad,” said DJ Moe-D, the tour DJ for Masta Ace and Edo G. “I thought it was gonna be wack, but it was good.”
In response to the album leaking, Fif has pushed up the release of Before I Self Destruct to November 16, with the digital version available on November 9.
The promo tour includes stops in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Houston. The final stop is in Dallas on November 13. Tickets are available at www.movietickets.com/50. —Lauren Carter

i got the BISD leak & it’s DOPE…i’m not the biggest 50 fan or the biggest hater…but i will be buying the actual CD as well…on the lp…he’s doing what he what people like him for…that gangsta street shit with like 2 songs for the radio & the ladies (which i suprisingly like them for what they are)…of course he could’ve injected a tidbit of more self-introspection but he does faintly touch on his baby-mama drama, buck

Fif should have more Dr.Dre beats on the lp though
The instrumentals could have been spectacular as Get Rich or even The Massacre

Will be interesting to know BISD’s final numbers for both weeks.
Never heard of an artist releasing a new album on itunes 1 week and a hard copy in stores the next.
