    No Ceilings, Mad Punch Lines

Tuesday Nov 3 5:00 AM CST posted by xxl staff

Lil Wayne only has four things on his mind: money, sex, drugs and of course that cold, beautiful, porcelain bowl. Yup, that’s right, it’s about that time again. I downloaded the shit, I listened to the shit, and now I scooped it all up to shove it in your face.

Difference is, this time around I collected five of my favorite lines from all of Weezy’s most popular topics of discussion. You might not fuck with him, but you gotta respect him; the man is an undeniable, silly genius.

As the headline reads, Weezy might not have any ceilings, but he’s definitely got mad punch lines. You can bob and weave all you want, but the dude’s gonna connect… and unlike the rest of these jokers, all he needs is one dope mixtape to do so. For those that don’t know what I’m talking, go pick that up already you late mo’fuckas. Enjoy… —Jesse Gissen

    [Listed in no particular order]

Haven’t been on XXL for a little minute. What’s good fellas?

    No Ceilings = MEH

Same old Weezy tracks. Money, ice, loose women, and comparing himself to excrement. Why this is deemed as “sick” punchlines, I’ll never know.

& i copped (downloaded) the mixtape. my favorite track is the last one, Sweet Dreams w/ Nicki Minaj & some bitch that sound just like Beyonce. yea he got nice punchlines but, what is he saying?

    Lol thats simple yet clever
I respect the fact that wayne’s grind is hard but he doesn’t understand quality over quanity. The guy got on a song with Hov and said “beetlejuice beetlejuice beetlejuice” LMAO I got a strong sense of humor, its just that words like genius dont pop up when I hear stuff like that. “Dear auntie I still feel your timeless sorrow/ Before u died, it’s like your body was mine to borrow/ Like I jumped in ya physical shell/ while u was going thru miserable hell, sayin goodbye to tomorrow/ Everyday it makes me sad, angry mad/ how you was sent to heavens sacred pad/ duct-taped and gagged, plus raped and stabbed/ body draped in blood, what a fate to have/ such a pitiful end/ I’m poppin ritalin like they skittles cus when/ I sleep i can feel it again and again and again/ and difficult, killing is the wickedest biblical sin/ I’m talkin bout mommas identical twin/ I see ya face when I look at hers/ a reminder how I’ve been in the cold/ since fourteen years old/ I’ll probably be in heaven when the pain stops/ till then all I’m hearin is wind and rain drops/” GOT DAYUM He’s a beast!

that makes kayne like what 1/6 on tracks with hova? kanye did his thing on that one, cannot front. but kanye need about 3 or more to dig himself out of the hole that hova put him in with diamond are forever (dont remember the name of song)

C’MON Son, didnt hov and juelz have the best two verses on the carter 3? how many “a millie” verses did you hear much better than waynes? get a grip. wayne is aight.

i thought that parachute line was hot. but other than that, nah. i guess after hearing folks like big pun, eminem, jada, big l ect. i am kinda numb to most of waynes punchlines. the kids does have his moments.

I hear what you’re saying. True, Hov has handled his own & cats have struggled to keep up on numerous occassions. No one can ever take anything away from his talent & consistancy over the years. I’m simply saying that on that particular track, he should’ve came with it… especially with that beat. It was pure gold, as far as rap beats are concerned.

As far as the the Carter 3 verses are concerned, Hov did his thing, Juelz verse was aight, but, not stellar, in my opinion. And Wayne did have some highlights, as well as some misteps within that album. Overall, it was a solid offering. I can respect your opinion, tho. To each, their own.

    no ceilings is fire.

wayne got the most flows of anybody in the game right now.

i’ve always said.. lyrics are meant to be HEARD, not READ. timing, delivery, voice inflection, and FLOW.. wayne is killing it.

i will admit that alot of the shit he says is simple. but it’s funny cause when he says some shit, i find myself thinking, “i can’t believe nobody ever thought of that line before.” and sometimes i end up thinking well that’s b/c its so corny nobody else could have said it but wayne. wayne has the personality and the delivery to pull off saying things other rappers can’t.

then of course some of his lines really are just duds. “we fine like amber rose, ballin like jalen rose.” he even kinda chuckles when he says that, as if to say “i know that was extra simple.” but it’s a mixtape so who really cares?? plus he had already dumbed out on the track for like 4 minutes.

like dude said above, it’s a fun mixtape.

for people mentioning j.cole.. sure his mixtape is great, but he’s gotta take every verse seriously at this point in his career. he has no hits. no album. he still has to show and prove. a mixtape is serious business to him.

Always thought Wayne was most like 3 stacks as well. His flow reminds me of Andre’s and Jay’s mixed together and he has off the wall lyrics like Andre. His lyricism isn’t nearly as crazy nor is his subject matter as diverse, but dude is funny as fuck too.

No rapper shows love to fans better than Wayne as well. Dude is thankin us for his success more than any other rapper.

    westcoastaggie says:

No Ceilings was refreshing to hear. Most of the time when rappers go straight off their brain when freestyling, their rhymes really have no point beyond the rhyme scheme, rhythm and reference that makes the listener stop the track, replay the line to catch what was being said (the punchline).

A lot of the lines Wayne has on this mixtape has a double meaning along with references currently in the happenings in America. Even though the songs have no meaning behind them beyond typical voracious braggadocio, the Mr. Carter definitely put in the serious effort in his flows that have been missing since Dedication 2/Da Drought 3 when he was trying to prove he is “the best rapper alive…”

Is it just me or is wayne possibly one of the worst rappers ever, (“Young Money we the shit/Big stomachs…” – “Ice Cream), is that what passes as a good puch line these days, or is the writer wack. I always wondered why wayne been around for so long and only now is this big, its because back in the 90’s and early 2000’s u had to be nice to blow up, now that the standards have dropped(or disappeared) he blows up

Blakout615 and then you say “j.cole” lol , j.cole is utter horrible garbage - you listen to the lyrics or just listen to the beat? .
on topic . The mixtape was awesome - Perfect flow´mad punches elite metha4s . i would rank it 5/5 - If the dude keep this style up and forget the auto tune , Carter IV might end up as album of the year and a classic
