• Rza Speaks on Possibility of ODB & Wu-Tang Biopics

Promoting his new book, The Tao of Wu, Rza recently spoke to The Onion’s A.V. Club about the possibility of both an Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Wu-Tang Clan biopic.

According to the Abbott, there are behind the scenes problems with bringing ODB’s story to the big screen. “We have talked about it,” Rza said referring to a movie about Dirty. “His estate is pretty confused, like any estate is in our country. The estate is kind of confused on what to do, and all the rights and all that shit, but it’s definitely been talked about. There’s also been talk about a Wu-Tang Clan movie. So we’ll see what life brings.”

When it comes to what movie he would like to see first, Rza’s response is crystal clear. “In my opinion, I’d rather see an ODB pic than a Wu-Tang Clan pic, because Wu-Tang is still alive, and may be active for a few more years,” he explained. “But an ODB pic, just to really describe his life, would be good. Right now, there is a documentary that’s done that’s pretty good. It ain’t a knock out of the park, but it’s pretty good, it gives a nice piece of him. Then you start with that, and we can build more awareness about his life, and build more interest in people seeing a movie about it.”

There are several other film projects that Rza is involved in. As XXLMag.com previously reported, the Shaolin rapper is producing the upcoming Last Dragon remake, is set to star in the new Jamie Foxx comedy, and is working on his directorial debut The Man With The Iron Fist.

One thing for sure, right now is not the time for an ODB biopic. Rappers right now are in the bull’s eye for all those antics and such. We need those lawsuits and shit to cool off before makin a movie about Dirty. He’s the epitome of hip hop crazy antics.

Yo! The ODB movie should be all about his character and who he was and how he got to be, but it should be fictional and his character is also be like and anti-hero that’s fuckin up really evil shit with his odb-technique. That shit would be fly and funny, and proper cause Ol’ Dirt McGirt was truely polarizing as an artist (RIP). I’m serious, someone needs to get at RZA with this one. Wu-Tang
