“That career move was very important to me… We’ve done such a great job of building it all up. It’s kind of like people were getting this impression of me that I’m never gonna make a mistake. I’m not made of Teflon. I’m gonna do things for myself sometimes, as opposed to what people want me to do… If you listen to the song, I’m not saying the most graceful thing in the world. It’s not the most heartfelt song… I say some pretty wild things in regards to women in the actual song. When me and Kanye were in the studio working on a song for Big Sean, we were talking about it. We saw a comedic element to it. I felt that the climate in the world right now, everything in the world is so serious all the time, my life is serious, I just wanted to laugh, instead of taking myself too serious as the heartthrob and walking hand-in-hand into the movies and taking my shirt off. I felt it’s not that time for me yet. Or maybe never. I’m a very multifaceted person. One thing I told ‘Ye is, ‘I really want to act. I want to act in this video.’ “
Pause. The acting in the “Best I Ever Had” video was shitty, but that’s beside the point…
“I guess one thing I didn’t consider is what the song personally means to a lot of women… To those women, I apologize. I do apologize. My intention wasn’t to put anyone down. It was to make them laugh. I wanted people to see something visually different.”
-Drake, MTV News
If them ol’ self-righteous hoes can’t take a joke, fuck ‘em. Your video wasn’t for them. Aspiring rapsters, listen up. You won’t be able to please everyone your entire career, so stop trying. There will always be supporters and detractors. If that’s something you can’t deal with, you’re not built for the public eye.
Drake seems to understand as much to an extent. However, I’m starting to notice a startling trend in his public relations. Drake has become the official Young Money spokesman and press secretary. Granted, Lil’ Wayne seems to be an intelligent little gremlin (no Tony Randall), but he sure as fuck can’t be the spokesperson for shit–except maybe lean. But, I digress. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a polite and gracious person. Dare I say the entertainment industry needs more of this. The problem is that there’s always going to be a proverbial fire to put out. When it comes to matters of artistic license, you’ve gotta put the message in the bottle, set it adrift and deal with whatever comes back.
This nigga will be a career apologist if he’s got a dollop of coverall for every minor blemish. Sometimes you’ve gotta hold your head up high and grin as if to say, “Mm hmm. Right. Okay. Well, you’re entitled to your opinion. I respect it. Now, the two of you can go somewhere and gnaw on a dick sandwich.”
To which a pair of 13-year old Drake fans might say, “We like, totally thought you’d like, never ask! Wooooo!”
I’m sure damn near every [little] girl in the world wanted the live action version of Drake’s Comeback Season cover. You know the deal: autumnal foliage, handholding, gentle kisses from festering models, peacoats and shit. Knockers and stretching aside, I appreciated the comedic curveball. My feelings about the video are irrelevant, as Drake couldn’t win here anyway. The song was so huge already that no video could have attracted more new listeners than it disappointed current listeners. On the same coin, had Drake released a prom night episode of Degrassi video, people would have shit wheelchairs.
[Blogger’s Note: I thought Drake should have gone full-on Degrassi just to be snarky and throw the preconceived notions back into John Q. Public’s face. My “Best I Ever Had” video would have looked like an episode of California Dreams. That’s right, not even Saved By The Bell or City Guys. I’d have gone for excessive, deliberate Cheez Wiz.]
Drake might have to apologize for this upcoming sitcom, though. Maybe not, as it will air in Canadia where the entertainment standards are nice and low. However, if Roller Jimmy makes too many horrible acting or music calls, he’ll be throwing away two careers at once.
Stakes is high.
Questions? Comments? Requests? I’m sorry niggas is so fuckin sensitive. I really am. ron@ronmexicocity.com

Co-sign the Bloger’s note Mex.
Pre-wheelchair Jimmy on the ballcourt, Jae Millz getting paint dumped on him & hitting the hallways, Jimmy running for dear life. Blaow!
Jimmy in the hospital, with Nikki Minaj & Mack Maine by his side. Whellchair J making his triumphant return, handicapped friendly van & all.
It would’ve sailed over heads though. I would’ve thought it was hilarious.
However, slo-mo mammory action is just as good. Long live T & A!!

Actually this idea doesn’t sound half bad….maybe at some point he rolls out onto a stage for a concert, miraculously gets out of his wheelchair and tears his ACL at which point he has to sit back down in the wheelchair….?
but yea..the original video was straight…some girls gone dislike it..most other girls won’t care..most niggas is gonna like it..the rest will maintain their unreasonable, slightly homo-erotic Hate for the dude whattayagunnado?

trailer park boys is hilarious. and we gotta thank canadians for some of the world’s best comedy. i know the truth about american comedy.
the problem is that they gotta leave canada to get network appreciation… i.e., paid.
and canadian networks seem to really just not give a shit a lot of times. and they’re charging premium prices for regular-ass american tv. it’s a mess.
