In an effort to spread information on the AIDS epidemic, Houston hip-hop radio station 97.9 The Box will be rewarding the community with a free star-studded concert for local residents that get tested for the disease.
The station has joined forces with The Houston Department of Health and Human Services, and Amerigroup Community Care as well as the city’s AIDS Foundation and NAACP branch to launch the “Hip Hop For HIV Awareness” campaign in hopes to consult and screen 15,000 people in the area.
As an incentive, every person that gets tested will receive a ticket for a concert next month starring a slew of Southern rap heavyweights and R&B favorites. Plies, Bun B, Twista, Yung L.A., Gorilla Zoe, Day 26, Bobby Valentino, LeToya Luckett and Ginuwine are all slated to hit the stage on July 11 at H-Town’s George R. Brown Convention Center.
Free testing and consultation starts today (June 22) and will continue for the next four days at the NAACP’s Family Technology Center, along with other locations throughout Houston. For more information on the campaign, visit www.kbxx.com - Elan Mancini

What do you get if you test positive? A frown? A tombstone?
