This goes out to everybody who be crying about their favorite artist not selling records. First of all now a days is not about the quality of your music, it’s about making a hit record, here you have Food & Liquor in my opinion the best album of 2006 (til Kingdom Come drops that is) the album was led by ”Kick, Push” a great record but not a club-record nor a radio-record, which is what these record labels are looking for they want radio play, spins, on the other hand here you have Yung Joc’s New Joc City one of the worst albums in history NOT JUST RAP but music history, led by ”It’s Going Down” as stupid as a song could get but, catchy, radio-friendly and a club banger, his album is approaching platinum. Sure i think Atlantic could have done more for Lupe’s project but, at the end of the day blame yourself for that, cause you all knew his album was coming out but, once the album leaked not once but twice everybody already had download it or copped the bootleg. That’s why you don’t see artist like Lupe Fiasco selling millions of records because, he’s music is not on the radio 24/7, you don’t see his video every hour and you don’t hear him at the club which is where all the white kids listen to all this garbage snap-music, you spend the whole night tryin’ to hear some State Prop ”Roc The Mic” and all you get is some ”Laffy Taffy” and you have no choice but, to stand and watch the cute white girl who can’t dance all night so you can holla at her after the club.

First weeks numbers mean nothing to noone except the label and they are even not foolish enough to believe that their investment has failed. Fans are trying to turn the game into a scoring contest, not knowing that sales can increase, decrease or remain steady, sometimes it may take a year for a record to in platinum. If “Kick Push” would have got as many spins as “It’s Goin Down” or “Laffy Taffy”, it would have sold way more than it did.

Some people just don’t get it. I agree that 1st week sales r quite important but they r no indicator of a cathegorical F-L-O-P. Look at Akon’s LP Trouble who sold about 5k copies his first week, and 2 months later was certified gold and in no time reached platinum status. Most of the people who r quick to call out flops have never supported an artist in their entire lives( supporting meaning buying the artists CD not bootleg). Please either make constructive criticism or shut the hell up, comprende!
