Rumors were rampant of a Diplomats reunion at Summer Jam last night (June 7), but the surprise Jim and Juelz sprang was bringing out Soulja Boy, who spoke to XXLMag.com backstage about his appearance.
“I ran into [Jim] at Busta Rhymes’ album release party in New York like two, three weeks ago,” revealed Soulja Boy of the on-stage collabo’s genesis. “He holla’d at me—said he wanted me to come through and do it. I said, ‘No problem.’”
During his closing set, Jim told the crowd, “When I wake up in the morning, I do two things.” “First, I brush my teeth. Then, I turn my swag on.” The ATL rapper then pushed through the sea of Dipset heads that filled the stage to capacity, launching into his hit record. [Watch below]
“55,000 people all jammin’ to swag on in the middle of New Jersey—it’s crazy,” added Soulja Boy of the crowd’s reaction. “I guess New York finally showin’ me some love. It is what it is, though. The South been hookin’ up with New York recently. You got Gucci hookin’ up with Busta. You got Wayne doing songs with everybody from the East Coast. So it’s just everybody showing love. That’s how it’s supposed to be.” - Devin Chanda

LMAO at Mpho and Pierzy’s comments.
What yall said is true though.
Its a shame what was once the Summer Jams of all Summer Jams have been reduced to having Camron’s former weed-carrier as a headliner with a even more wacker artist as his special guess. Now I see why Cam didnt even bother to show up. Why waste his time?

They edited out “with toilet water.”
Hate to say it, but with SB producing, still putting out songs that get a fair amount of radio play, & the fact that noone has ran him away yet, if he can maintain @ this same, umm, intensity for a few more years, we may not ever be able to shake him.
He’s like a babymomma with mean jawbone game.

Google it.
SB is about the most ignorant you can get. White loves ignorant black folk. This dude was on “The View” the other day for chrissakes. As long as he doesn’t try to de-ignantfy his music. He’ll have a presence.
Im just saying, I know lots of white girls and they all love SB. And that Ice Cream Paint Job song too, they go crazy in the club for it.

Lol @ $yk reading my mind….
Damn, “The View” is going through some type of identity crisis.
Wayne, SB, who am I leaving out?
I’ll be sure to look out for that exclusive “Mike Vick: House Arrest In Paradise” interview.

EREAL…O.k…That “Ice Cream Paint Job” is a rider! The dude who wrote that put that song together to connect with those who understand what it is to ride clean, beat hard, just look fresh while goin threw the hood on some G shit. You can’t understand it, cool. But don’t be on a HIP HOP web site, like XXL.com, frontin like we all supposed to be one-dimensional Hip Hop heads. I’m an intellectual, but I’m straight out the hood man, and admire the best of Common, The Roots and the best of niggaz like Gucci Mane, Dorrough, etc. I think you’re just a common hater man.

Thank God for the down south rappers like Jezzy , Pain , And Soldier Boy. If it wasnt for them the concert would have been wack. Hot 97 does not keep alot of songs on the playlist so half of the time the crowd was cold compared to the old summer jams. Its a new Generation of fan. they want more music
