• Jadakiss On Pace To Sell Over 100K In First Week

Monday Apr 13 9:54 AM CDT posted by xxl staff

Jadakiss is poised to move an impressive total of at least 100,000 units of his third album, The Last Kiss, in its first week on the charts, according to projections from HitsDailyDouble.com. [View XXL Staff Predictions Here]

The Def Jam rapper, who celebrated the release of his new album by bringing out Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beatz during a New York concert last Wednesday (April 8), is slated to fill the number three slot on this week’s SoundScan report arriving on Wednesday. Down the charts is another offering from a New York rapper, with Mims on track to sell between 10-15,000 copies of his latest album, Guilt.

No estimates were given for the second-week totals of last week’s chart debuts from U.G.K., Flo Rida, and Bow Wow, but expect significant drop-offs given the current sales climate.- Devin Chanda

i grew up and jada, and i respect him…but why does he consistently get passes for trying so hard to crossover?!

i mean they really pull out all the stops for him every time,–to be honest; based on the painfully premeditated way in which all of his albums attempt to crossover, you could call jada the most commercial rapper of all time…

my point is that, he needs to understand that his monotone nyc hood flow is always only going to appeal to a certain male demographic no matter whether he gets mariah carey again or in this case neyo or whomever…having said that, he would outsell all of his previous efforts by holding down his true fans and making a street classic…

    just my personal opinion…

***I’ve had the CD early, and I pass it up to listen to the new UGK. . .I’m sorry, but CD wasn’t at all what I thought it would be. Plain and simple, too many features.

I challenge someone to count the tracks with features vs. Jada solo (remember,it’s HIS album!). . .Jada does his thing, but it’s watered down.

    Worth downloading, that’s it.

Jada’s label is practicaly begging us to buy his album. since when is a rapper almost making it news? How come we weren’t given how many units were sold already to confirm the claim he’s close to 100 thou?

Impressive total? You might as well pat Jada on the head…good job.

THE #’S YOU HAD THIS CD DOING BASED ON YOUR STAFF’S OVERALL PREDICTION’S WERE WAY LOWER THAN YOUR PROJECTED #’S FOR MS. JENNY JONES NOT TO MENTION YOU GAVE MR.NANANANA AN XL RATING. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE RATING YOU GIVE JADAKISS. AS FOR THE PEOPLE SAYING DEF JAM IS BUYING THE CD’S, IF IT WAS THAT EASY TO BOOST ARTIST’S SALES EVERY LABEL WOULD BE DOING IT! 50 CENT SAID THE SAME CRAP WHEN HE GOT MOPPED BY KANYE WEST IN THEIR SALES BATTLE. HE SWORE THE NEXT 2 WEEKS AFTER 1ST WEEKS SALES THAT KANYE’S #’S WOULD DROP BY 70-80%. LAST I CHECKED THAT CD SOLD OVER 3 MILLION COPIES WHILE CURTIS TOOK HOW LONG TO FINALLY GO PLATINUM 2-3 MONTH’S MAYBE.

    PEACE & GET MONEY!!!

I fucks with Jada. But I just dont get celebrating 100k 1st week sales as a success. I guess it is by todays standards, but Im use to rappers blowing it out the box 1st week in my era (the 90’s) and that makes it hard to respect those numbers. I do realize that technology plays a role in the low numbers, but still…

    Nate says:

It’s not trash or commerical just because it sounds good, the rhymes are nice and the beats are nice. There is one song that sucks because he did the thing where you put Lil Bitch on for sales. Mary J. is not trash, and most hip hop fans have always been down with Nas, Ghostface, Raekwon, Styles, and Swizz. The only thing I hate is his trademark sound at the start of songs which doesn’t attract new fans or make you want to hear his music.

Kanye’s last album was commerc. trash
    Lil Wayne, etc, etc.

Not Jada. I like Styles more, but Jada crafted a good album here.

Yo Big Ups to Jada but The album was wack to me He had to many guest appearance, and the beats were mediocre. I was checkin for that vintage Jada you like the mid 90’s Kiss.. I still cop the album doe, I’m suprised he creepin up on 100k but dispite my harsh criticism Kiss still Got the best Album out easily this year as far as mainstream Rappers go.

    @megagavelli,

you nearly nailed it. jada is making tons on contrived commercial hits. which is really no different that most rappers.

it’s a great day when jada outsells the first week debuts of flo rida, mims, and bow wow. now, jada needs to get a 1/4th of the ringtone sales that those people get.

He had street shit, commercial shit and club shits on there.. most Jada fans hate that song with that JUICE nigga, but guess what it’s poppin in the South..
