• Grand Puba Readies New Release, Signs With Babygrande

Tuesday Mar 17 9:15 AM CDT posted by xxl staff

Grand Puba, founding member of the legendary rap group Brand Nubian, has inked up with indie hip-hop label Babygrande Records to release his fourth solo album, Retroactive.

“Grand Puba is the father to so many styles in hip-hop,” Babygrande CEO Chuck Wilson said in a statement. “It’s good to have him back—the game needs him. We have a great relationship with Brand Nubian and we had so much success with Lord Jamar’s solo release in 2006 that it only makes sense to keep it in the family,”

Retroactive, set for release on June 23rd, will mark Puba’s first release since 2001’s Understand This. - Devin Chanda

The attribute is HAGI helper to another god in need, He Allah God Islam as I proceed to civilize the uncivilized words of wizdom from the groove of the wise (Speak on it God).

I hope he can still spit like he used to, he’s alway been mad underrated and I wish the game would bring in new gods and earths into the spotlight, that’s part of what’s missing.

For those of you who speak down on the big names currently in hip-hop do yourself a favor and read up, and study on genuine artists like Puba and Sadat X. Their “sales” status may have changed, but their rhyme game, talent, and content always stay high quality. These guys created valuable art so that “art”ists today have a opportunity to make great music AND great money. Don’t blow it, and go solely for that RINGTONE. AZ is another example still doing it.

I’m glad to see that he is with a known label like Babygrande. Good luck G.P.

If you are upset because older emcees are coming back to give the game some creativity, then it must mean you feel some way about yourself and need to step your skill level up.

Because if you are THAT nice, it shouldn’t matter who drops.

I am the daughter of Grand Puba & I’m proud that my father is coming back into the music buisness. I actually rap myself, & he deserves whatever good comes in his path. I love my dad & I know he doesn’t care about what the haters think, so why should anyone else ?
