It’s so cold in the Queens.
“Man, Nas is cold as ice. Nas is the block of ice that sunk the Titanic… I think he’s at one of those points to where his career’s finished, to be honest. He’s had some great moments and made good music in the past, but he no longer has the interest of the general public or myself.” -50 Cent, XXL Magazine
Well if that ain’t the pot calling the kettle “Nigger,” Curtis.
While Nas may be at the tail end of a long and storied career–with albums in the middle we’ll pretend didn’t happen (like Jay)–50’s Congo mystique has already clearly run out. Terminate Our Shit is the hands down winner of the 2008 Grammy in the “Most Violently Ignored” category. As per the repeated delays in Before I Embarrass Myself’s release, market projections clearly indicate that Cincuenta Centavo is going to have some trouble moving his frisbees this go ’round.
“Get Up” sits “In Da Club” bitches down faster than explosive diarrhea. I seent it. Throw on that new 50 and it’s like every chick at the party instantaneously has to take a “Jim” at the same time.
[Blogger's Note: Thank you, eddiesixes!]
I remember a certain hasenfeffer-toothed primate once having advised not to “throw stones if you live in a glass house.” Now may be the time for Amy Good Gorilla to take her own sign-language advice. For one, we can all see 50’s ass right now. Secondly, a nice-sized rock would be better used keeping the wobbly Lazy Boy Tony Yayo sleeps in from toppling over… that being, if he doesn’t try to sell it first.
Yayo would probably try to push the shit right out front of the Danbury mansion. That institutionalized-ass nigga don’t know where he is half the time anyway.
As far as the interest of the non-crack-purchasing public goes, if 50 has their interest, it’s clearly not for musical reasons. I heard dude’s supposed to be getting DeNiro’s coffee in a few upcoming crime dramas. That’s cool. I’m also aware that 50 has been named Val Kilmer’s official Bagger Vance.
“I’m right here witcha, Cap’n Boss. Been here all along.”
We at Ron Mexico City congratulate Mr. Jackson on the promotion.
The Legend of Nigger Curtis. Hmmm. I like it.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with making sure that your money’s nice and long in preparation for life after rapstering. Sometimes niggas just need reminders of where they’re headed. Make no mistake. Before I Self-Destruct is the aptly-titled swan song of a rapper who stirred up shit with the best of them for a strong 5-year mainstream run.
I just don’t think bleeding on the prison shower floor is really the place from which to make fun of another nigga’s status.
Time to get that end-game money. I hear retired players do well as analysts sometimes.

This dude is crazy. “N—er” was a much better album than “Terminate Our Selves” and everyone but the most brainwashed G(ay)-Unit fan will agree. 50 has had hits but Nas has classics that will live in hip-hop forever.
“Verbal Intercourse”
“I Gave You Power”
and of course “Ether”
NaS is top 5 ALL TIME, 50 was only top 5 CURRENTLY for about 2 years from ‘02 - ‘04 and then that wall hit him harder than Vivica A.
Also, let’s not forget who first helped put Fifty on (after Onyx). This is the same dude who once said, “Nastradamus predicted it, 50’s the future.” You can’t call dude a prophet and then turn around and call him over without getting clowned for it. Sit down, Curtissssssssssssssss.

I guess he thinks making threats to peoples children counts as lyrics or something. That was the best Camron could do because Cam isnt that bright lyrically. By the way Jay-Z did SuperUgly which was some weak shit like Cam did because ether put a hurting on Jay. Nas took it easy with ether he did a different verse that never got released because FatJoe asked Nas not to put it out.

“Ether” and the rise of 50 Cent definitely set Jay’s “retirement” in motion. I ain’t even realize “Ether” dropped on December 4th, Jay’s birthday. Nas is one “cold” motherf*cker for sure. Jay was all choked up and later apologizing after dropping that “Super Ugly” garbage.
This n*gga 50 knows he don’t want it with Nas. His best bet is to downplay Nas just like Jay. That’s the only way to let that elephant stay asleep ’cause when he awakes ain’t no tellin’ what might happen.

Good post Ron.
I gotta say though, even though Nas isnt as “hot in the streets” as we was in the 90’s or even as recently as 2001-2003, I would argue he’s doiung pretty well for a dude who “fell off”. Untitled did get critical praise, debut top of the charts and somehow manage to sneak gold with no Def Jam push and publicity that was doing more harm than good.
Plus dude just got another couple of Grammy nods (yeah I know Grammys dont mean shit), a Fila endorsment deal, a world tour on his own and headlining Rock the Bells and joined Kanye on the Australian leg of the Glow in the Dark tour (which according to press there he stole the show), he really seems to be pretty well off for a dude 17 years into a rap career.
Can we agree that Nas is in a somewhat good space compared to other East Coast vets and even current young rappers in general? I think so.

Fifty doesn’t want nutn to do with Nasty. I’ve noticed that Curtis is quick to “attack” when he smells weakness. Nasir doesn’t now, nor ever has had, that odor on him. 50’s from the streets, per se, so I’m sure he’s aware of the “watch the quiet niggas” mantra. & letthe record show that the Nas/jigga feud was basically set in motion behind a female, not that Jay felt like he had to topple Nas’ queen piece (no pun intended) & declare a lyrical war. He didn’t expect Nas’ bite to be so bad, since his bark aint too loud to begin with. Jay got slaughtered in one fuckin song, then tried repeatedly lke a drowning infant to get to the shallow end. He didn’t neccesarily drown, but he hasn’t jumped into the deep end again ether (get it?).
& Curtis is an intelligent man, damn sho smart enuf to know that Nas aint bleedin, he aint weak, & anything but interview slick talkin my be the retirement party that he really didn’t want. Name 5 MC’s that came @ Nas in 17 yrs?

50’s relevance in the world of hip-hop has faded like jeans that have been washed too many times. I can’t believe he has to say that Nas is finished. Nas may not be selling high as 50 but creatively and sell wise he remains consistent while 50 and his G-Unit empire’s relevance drops like a bird turd on a newly washed car. The real reason 50 didn’t go after Nas after Nas took a cheap shot at him is because he don’t want it with Nas.

Man I love watching 50 just fall deeper and deeper into the quicksand. Dude needs to realize he will NEVER be on Nas’ level. Was 50 a powerhouse in the game? Hell yeah he was, nobody can deny that. But that was 4 years ago money, and the fact is he hasnt dropped anything truly original since Get Rich or Die Trying. Nas is the epitome of what a rapper should be. Intelligent, well spoken, someone who has respect for the people who laid the groundwork for hip hop and a true “mastermind” of the game. 50 even said it himself, “This is chess, not checkers”. Motherfucker take your own advice and step your rap game up, or step the fuck out the rap game. Because a dude like Nas will turn your ass into hamburger meat before you can even get a “Go shawty, Its ya birfday!” out your fuckin mouth. PERIOD.
“They smile in the light, hate in the dark,
you call it beef, to me its’s just a fuckin’ walk in the park.
Because you are who you are when nobodys looking
That’s who you are so when the cash and cars is gone, the day after tomorrow
Don’t be askin’ to borrow, ski mask get hard, like the way you rap in your bars
I could ride on you and whoever, devise new endeavors
I’m as live as hive full of preditors” - Nas

Curtis put his own foot in his mouth. Aint nobody force him to be so sideways in his response (in that article). That funny little remark sounded like his feelings were hurt, but he knew that he can’t compete with Nas on Nas’ level. If somebody can point out where Nas was speaking foul against Fiftys business ventures, then I’ll eat my keyboard. But that didn’t happen. 50’s been pokin subliminals at Nas for a while, now all of the sudden he wonts to try and discredit him because he wishes he was as well respected as him. My man said earlier every mans entitiled to a few off albums, including Nas, so in that case nobody’s perfect. I’m a Nas fan since “Live at the BBQ”, and I’ve seen him play defense when he had to, but Curtis is always rushing to the goal, if only to draw the foul and get a couple freebee shots. A man wouldve said at the most, “I’m not here to talk about Nas”, or some arrogant, not worth my time remark, instead of comment on that mans personal situation. He knows that far as dollars and sells, he got Nas fa sholy, but respect in the game itself, 50 isn’t prepared for his last battle to be with a giant. His arms are way too fucking short to box with god. And saying that 50’s days are limited isn’t a jab at the man, its a realistic assesment of his career. That’s what happens when your best album is your first (GRODT), and the hunger dies immediately. Nas may not be the richest, or most popular, but I bet 50 wouldn’t battle him live, for $ or for free. He shouldve learned that its easy for his mouth to write checks his ass can’t cash when he challenged Kanye to first week sales, then tried to downplay the onslaught with that retard ass giggle and a snide remark. This aint what 50 was put here for, so let him go on to the boardroom where he wants to be, but as far as the artistic facet of the culture, that goon isn’t fucking with Nas.

NAS wouldnt battle him live shit he wouldnt even battle JAY-Z live
How come niggas wasnt saying nothing about nas when CAM was getting at him and nas never did a song about him but when they asked a question about cam he would say the SAME THING
I call it the tupac factor niggas was such a die hard fan of pac that they would never admit to pac not being a better MC than biggie
Or better yet the OBAMA factor that if one nigga would say i dont like his stance on some of the issues and niggas would just turn they back on him cause niggas just such die hard supperters that he cant do no wrong
Me personally i dont think fifty fell of its just what niggas do they like then they hate you niggas was saying nas only had one hit album and that was his first untill he dropped stillmatic which was like what 3 albums later if you gonna compare nas to fifty you got to split it up in different catagorys there club songs and street songs

Fiddy Cent ran Ja out the “mainstream pop/rap/gangster king” spot and took over his gangsta singing career
What made Fiddy seem so big was the co-signs and commercial success. I didnt see Em and Dre cosign shit after GRODT. Prolly cause the rest of that was HIS bad ideas. Who the fuck said sign Ma$e? and all the G-Unit covers and big dynasty plans was all lies, M.O.P. was even further in the dark at G-Unit than on Def Jam. They careers just fizzled out over money. Mobb Deep too. He tried to buy out veteran new york rapper’s legacies and stamp gggg-unit on them. It worked too, cause Mobb Deep was the epitome of East Coast Gangsta Rap then they got to G-Unit and start callin theyselves hollywood hav and v.i.p.!!!! Fiddt use careers as stepping stones for himself, he signed his whole roster according to who would beef for him. Hot Rod’s first G-Unit record was dissing Game for leavin’, and that nigga just walked in. Then he went at Nas, remember? Spyder Joke, G-Unot Killa’s older cousin? Olivia(Oliver after 9pm)?
Fiddy, if you wanna make music, or be a mogul you need to take your piece out Yayo’s ass and get with the times. Nas been rockin’ and I bet he got some old and new unreleased shit thats phenomenal

@ teezy,
Ill admit Big was better than pac, so that destroys that theory (factor). Its not a matter of if Nas would battle, even on a radio station, its the statement that I already made. Arms too short, and 50 knows it. You can only intimidate those who allow it, and only for a limited amount of time. Nas isn’t overly aggresive, with the same lame formula, gearin his song towards the mainstream. I can’t name one Curtis song that has some “oh Fuck” moment. If it wasn’t for obsessive materialism, ya boy Curt would have a very limited list of concepts. Remember, this is called “how has more what?”, its called Hip hip. I said weeks ago that I’ve never even heard 50 use that term in a sentence. That’s what all us die hard Nasir heads are hollering bout. Again, Nas will end his career with a catalogue that won’t get stale. As far as the artistry, man, have you ever even owned a Nas album? How many cats can take a song bout the same old hood shit, then tell the story backwards (Rewind)? How many dudes can make a song outta going through an old rhyme book (Book of Rhymes)? Now, how many niggas can rap about rims, $, cars, killin everybody on the planet, pussy, weed (he don’t even smoke, frontin ass)? Oh yeah, that’s all curtis rhymes about.
There’s a reason us motherfuckers enjoy Nas’ music. Its quality poetry, simple and plain. Speaking of “simple and plain”, will see what happens when BISD hit the shelves. Its download age bruh, that nigga aint selling more than a mill, and I’m being genereous. Okay, I’m bullshitting, I don’t see gold in his future.

but anyway when 50 was saying shit about him nas wasnt saying nothing so i dont get your theroy dog how he gonna be scarred when he been going at nas and when nas made a diss to fifty nobody was feeling it remember and that shit right before the “hio hop is dead” album forgot what song it was but the nigga made one and after that 50 already said the same thing he said in the interview why he not gonna respond and he aint said nothing since
I’m a nas fan like you i own all the albums but step outside the shit and look at it from a different perspective nas could of been went at him but decided not to i bet if they ask nas he would say it wasnt even about fifty just like he said that “put a barrel in a capo mouth” line wasnt about jim jones
