New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has reportedly ordered promoters to refund 8,000 concertgoers due to Wayne postponing two concerts in Upstate, New York.
Weezy first skipped a scheduled performance at Rochester, N.Y.’s Blue Cross Arena on October 26, 2008. The show was then rescheduled for December 6th, but Birdman Jr. already pulled out of the engagement.
“Both Blue Cross Arena and Lil’ Wayne’s promoters are doing the right thing by refunding Rochester-area fans who purchased tickets to a performance that never took place,” Cuomo said in a statement. “Failing to show up as advertised without prior notice is unfair to fans and the only acceptable resolution is to offer a full refund.”
Wayne’s reps claim they postponed the first concert because the audio equipment failed to meet the rapper’s usual standards. He then canceled the second show because it coincided with rehearsals for his upcoming I Am Music tour. Show promoter Ed Strickland of RMF Productions is certain canceled tickets were wrongly resold. Still, he’s optimistic he’ll be able to bring Weezy to Rochester.
“I was hoping to get a call any minute,” Ed Strickland told the Democrat and Chronicle. “We’re going to start fresh, with all new tickets. I’m thinking of the people.” -Marvin Brandon
