So only a few days after we announced XXL’s Freshmen 10 mixtape, which has yet to be titled by the way, some guy named Jesse over at Getrightmusic, decided to leak a tape entitled, The 10 Freshmen (Hip-Hop’s Class Of 09 Attacks).
The only thing is, the mixtape is bogus, a fake, a phony, a pussy, a Stan. Ok, that didn’t make any sense. Anywho, the tape isn’t even finished. To date, we’ve only leaked one track, Asher Roth’s “The Reading,” for streaming only. Ironically, that site can’t even get its music right. We did make the acapella available for download as part of a producer contest. Shoot! The homie Eskay had the z-share on nahright and that site still didn’t put it on the mixtape.
Instead, the tape features previously released songs from the Freshmen 10, ripped versions of our Seminar Series and homemade mashups. Our tape (the real one) features a bunch of never heard before exclusives from all 10 freshmen. I mean, if Jesse really wants to get down, he can always submit a beat to Asherxxl@gmail.com for that Asher Roth “The Reading” remix. You could end up on the compilation, dude. We appreciate the promotion, but for anybody checking for the actual mixtape, stay tuned. It’s coming soon. -Jackpot
PS: Our art department never would have let us use that low budget photoshop cover.

I mean that list is cool but my question is where is Skyzoo? To me he’s killing majority of those people on the cover and has one of biggest buzz in Hip-Hop we’ve seen in awhile.

Who the Truth is on that cover:
1. Cory Gunz: I patiently await this young Jedi’s debut and continue to cop the tapes. Undeniable talent and skill.
2. BLU: This cat surprised the hell outta me with the BLU & Exile album. By far one my fastest faves since Jay Electronica (who I am not surprised is not on this cover, dude is mad reclusive)
3. Wale: gotta support the home team. Nuff said. DMV stand up.
4. Asher Roth: I can’t front on the dude. He’s not lying about nothing about himself or his life or his love for Hip-Hop and dedication to being his own MC. The mixtape was entertaining, hands down, and that’s what being in this business is about. All the love/hate talk is exactly what every/any new MC could want in starting a career, lol.
5. Charles Hamilton: I want to give this cat a chance. Just got his new one, “The L Word”. We can mos def relate on taste in women. lol
6. Mickey Factz: I want to give this guy a chance, too…
7. Kid Cudi: I am curious, may have to dig some songs up.
8. Uhhh, the rest–Currensy, Ace Hood. Hm. Ace. Hood. NYET, compadre. You’re wasting a lot of Def Jam’s reserve money. Currensy? I have no reason whatsover to even remember this cat’s name.

OKAY CUDI IS COOL I SEE HIM MAKING IT BIG. SAME THING FOR CURRENCY I THINK HE GOT A GOOD RUN FOR IT. I WANNA ROOT FOR CORY GUNZ BUT COME ON WHEN I TELL MY NIGGAS TO CHECK OUT SOME OF HIS SHIT THEY HATE IN ADVANCE. WALE NOT FEEDING INTO THE HYPE BASICALLY THE SAME THING FOR ASHER ROTH.
BLU AND MICKEY FACTZ I NEED TO HEAR MORE OF THERE STUFF. CHARLES HAMILTON HE DOES GOOD STUFF BUT I THINK HE CAN DO BETTER. ACE HOOD I THINK HE GOING GOLD HIS FIRST ALBUM HE DOWN WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. EVEN THOUGH HE IS FAR FROM THE BEST RAPPER ON THIS LIST. NOW WE COME TO B.O.B SOMETIMES HE MAKE SOME CLASSIC SHIT AND SOMETIMES HE MAKES GARBAGE. IT’S LIKE IT’S NOT EVEN THE SAME PERSON. HE NEEDS TO DROP A MIXTAPE NO GUEST JUST 10 12 SONGS THAT WAY WE CAN SEE IF THIS IS A REPEATING PATTERN.

Stop wit this freshman crap. The only reason any of these catz is on the cover is because the guys wit the talent and a chance to go far are to busy puttin in work in the industry to do a cover. Everyone of these emcee’s has HUGE weak points. Each of the seminars licked my taint. Ace Hood the worst of them all is the only one that held it down in that area. Lets see some articles bout mc’s that fuckin matter. Not this Factrothhamilton mash up. This’ll be the only xxl i wont pick up aside from the one wit g-unit. To support the artists on the cover is supporting the murder of hip hop.

Except for B.O.B. the rest of these cat’s ain’t gonna make no real noise!!
Cory Gunz been had all the connects in the world but he still got the same flow and dumb ass name.
Asher Roth might do work for the obvious reasons and I can’t even bring myself to speak on the rest.
THE SOURCE fell off at the end but for a long time UNSIGNED HYPE meant something.I like XXL for article’s and what not but I’ve never respected your album ratings or choice of whose NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charles Hamilton rips its. he freestyles off the head better than anyone of em. Corey Gunz is one fast mother fucker, but a lot of his lyrics dont make sense…Asher Roth and Kid Cudi did a great freestyle together on DJ Enuff on Youtube. look it up. Wale is very talented, but if u think he’s better than Lupe…you should be ashamed of yourself. Blu is real chill and spits well. B.o.B. verrrry nice. Ace Hood did alright on that Cypher with Juelz, Fab, and Jada. but other than that he needs to step away from Officer Ricky. Lastly Currency, dont be like Lil Wayne. please.

2. Wale - His shit is legit.
3. Charles Hamilton - I have hope that he can be at least somewhat legit and put out a few good songs.
Don’t even want to bother putting a list of the rest of these clowns, they don’t even compare to B.o.-bizzle, Wale, and Ham.

Bloggy Bloggenstein says:
I don’t dig Asher Roth at all, and haven’t heard the rhyme you’re quoting, but “Allen Iverson” and “Hakeem Olajuwon” rhyme just as much as “Bonita Applebum” and “ya gotta put me on.” That’s part of the problem with emcees today, they’re on some simple-simon, “cat, bat, rat” monosyllabic rhyme scheme shit and not trying to use vocabulary in a creative way. Words that are made up of multiple syllables rhyme. And if you’re a creative emcee you can MAKE words rhyme by freaking your delivery. “Iverson” and “Olajuwon” rhyme.
