• NEWS: Jay-Z To Represent New Jersey Nets At NBA Draft Lottery

Monday May 19 1:05 PM CDT posted by xxl staff

He has an album under his belt called “The Gift and The Curse,” but New Jersey Nets executives are hoping Jay-Z is more of the former rather than the latter.

The Brooklyn rapper, who has an ownership stake in the team, will represent the Nets at the NBA Draft Lottery, which is set to air live May 20 on ESPN at 8pm.

“This is very exciting and I hope my nickname “Lucky Lefty” holds up,” Hov said in a statement.

The Nets only have a 1.1 percent chance of landing the top pick in the draft held June 26. This is the first time the team has been in the draft since 2001, the season before Jason Kidd teamed with Richard Jefferson and Kenyon Martin to lead the Nets to back-to-back NBA Finals appearances.

Jay-Z, along with Nelly (Charlotte Bobcats) and Usher (Cleveland Cavaliers), are the only hip-hop or R&B acts with a minority ownership stake in a professional sports team. All three can regularly be seen at games. Jay-Z is also an avid support of relocating the Nets to Brooklyn, New York from New Jersey. -Jayson Rodriguez

this is a HORRIBLY worded news entry

    the title is…just wrong

he is going to represent them at the draft LOTTERY, not “…at NBA Draft”.

secondly, within the article it says “…This is the first time the team has been in the draft since 2001″

again, they have been in the draft since then, just not the draft lottery.

    very bad writing.

Yo, word, the writer also spells his name “Jayson” so that should tell a tale in itself. I guess he was just so excited to get the article out there that he did’nt bother to proof read.

That is very big. That is normally a position for the general manager, but for SC to have that spot says a lot. The more moves SC makes the more doors open for the young black man trying to emulate.

    Keep doing what you do.
