It was ‘92 when I first got hipped to UGK. Went to see Menace and heard Pocket Full of Stones and fell in love with the sound.

TI, OutKast, Mafia, Dungeon Family, Jezzy, Lil Wayne & Baby, Ludacris: All of ya’ll cats need to get together and put some money down on Pimp’s children for college man becuase it’s like that. Pimp lost money and time in jail and he was trying to build it up again.
Pimp was incarcerated when the South started getting money. He missed the Golden Years of his earning power.

I wonder, does anyone else find it odd that people who speak out against oppression and authority seem to always end up dying early?

Before UGK became more mainstream Pimp and Bun rapped about many topics that had an impact on their life. A couple of those topics were police brutality/abuse of authority and the division (beef) between many of today’s leading emcees. Pimp spread a message to young black males to not accept the authority of police when it is abused and fight back if not for their freedom, for their life. He was also very outspoken on the topic of uniting rappers. Pimp realized that if these artists would work together instead of fighting all of the time they would be able to make a lot more money. They could do this by pooling resources and producing music without the major record labels taking a huge percentage of their profits. This would also allow creative and intellectual freedom to express whatever they felt, not just what the record labels permit.

Both of these issues involve a sort of power structure that are designed to control and maintain this control over the people.

Pimp C’s lyrics threatened the balance of this control by spreading a message to his audience.

Pimp C was later sentenced to 8 years in prison for refusing to do his community service that was his punishment for aggravated assault. He then served almost 4 years for this, something that a high profile white artist would never have to do. While in prison Bun B put out his first solo album which brought UGK mainstream success. After getting out of prison Pimp C put out his own solo album which also did very well. After that they produced their latest album Underground Kings, which is a huge mainstream success.

Is it possible that some higher power did not like the things that Pimp C was saying and did something about it? Maybe he was put in jail, but this wasn’t enough. It didn’t solve the problem. It actually made them more popular among listeners, using phrases like “free Pimp C.” UGK could have used mainstream success to once again spread their messages to those that are oppressed. Pimp’s death will help to ensure that this does not happen. There are many people that could benefit from this that have the resources to make it appear to be an accident. Don’t be surprised when the autopsy reports the cause of his death was a drug overdose, something that could easily be secretly administered.

Dead Prez spoke out against things like this in their song “Hip-Hop.” Stating “You know it’s bigger than hip-hop” and “If we don’t get who shot Tupac they’re going to get us all.” Dead Prez is another group that is kept out of the mainstream eye because of their political messages. The idea that Tupac was assassinated because of his influence on African-American culture is covered in this song. What they are saying is Tupac also tried to disrupt this balance of power and was silenced because of this. They also state that we have to “get who shot Tupac before they get us all,” indicating that whoever we have to “get” is very powerful because they are trying to “get us all”; “all” refering to rappers who speak out against authority.

I am not saying he was silenced on purpose for sure, but I would like everyone to at least acknowledge the possibility.
