• Brooklyn’s Frank White Café Honors The Notorious B.I.G.

fw-cafe.jpgEven though its been 10 years since The Notorious B.I.G. tragically passed away, his legacy and influence still lives on, especially in his hometown of Brooklyn, NY. In honor of the late great rapper, a new café/lounge called Frank White is opening its doors just blocks away from where Biggie grew up. As many hip-hop fans recall, Frank White was one of Biggies’ various aliases, named after the character in the cult film, The King of New York. The Frank White café will pay homage to B.I.G. by placing photographer Barron Claiborne’s famous image of a crowned Notorious B.I.G. in the café. “We felt we couldn’t set up shop just steps away from where he grew up without honoring his memory in some ways,” says Frank White co-owner, Muhammida El Muhajir. The café’s grand opening will take place on Friday, October 5, and council member, Letitia James, and New York State Senator, Kevin Parker will helm the ribbon cutting ceremony. The event will be held at 10:00 a.m. at 936 Atlantic Avenue at St. James Place in Brooklyn.
