Eve’s Upcoming Album, Here I Am, Pushed Back To 2008

Tuesday Oct 2 10:18 AM CDT posted by xxl staff

eve1.jpgAccording to Billboard.com, the former first lady of the Ruff Ryders, Eve, will have to wait until 2008 to drop her new album, Here I Am. The LP, which will be released on Geffen Records, was originally intended to drop in August, but was subsequently pushed back until October 16. Now, the album has been delayed again, this time until 2008. No reason was given for the delay, but Eve’s two singles off the LP — the Swizz Beatz produced “Tambourine” and the Sean Paul assisted “Give It To Me” — have failed to generate a buzz within the hip-hop community. Here I Am will be Eve’s first album since 2002’s Eve-olution.

Fools talk Wise men listen says:

Well does anybody truly care. Tambourine is okay but she needs to bring it back to the Double R days.

Eve has been outside the elite group of mainstream artists for so long that one can question if she even has a chance at a come back. The days of african american female rap artists reaching the top ten of the billboard hot 100 are over; this is especially true if she attempted this feat without featuring someone else(another artist) on the track. She has little to no hope of ever having another smash hit; another “satisfaction” is the best she could possibly do. Eve is a last generation artist; she should just retire and take pride in her accomplished career and not beat it to death like oh-so-many other artists these days.

Worley says:

Eve is wack because she’s trying to sell two images. She sacrificed the pitbull in the skirt for the tragic mulatta on TV and in print ads. She dates white men these days too.

Vicious Seiger says:

Is being on Aftermath Records A blessing or a curse? If your name isn’t 50 or Em it seems like you just won’t hardly ever see your album released on Aftermath. I know A lot of people are talking about her “Realness” but she been popish from the start. “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” was a megaton pop hit so why are people surprised by her choice of singles. I’ll admit she sure did seem like she abandoned her fanbase as she “pursued” acting and now that times are tight you see why she’s running back to the mic. Eve’s best bet is too hit her audience with something along the lines of “Love Is Blind” if she wants to be taken serious about a comeback instead of rhyming over Swizzy’s Throw Away Beats.

PS - The Female MC game is looking Leaner than Whitney Houston on Crack? Where did all the real female MC’s go?

Eve lost all street cred when she went hollywood, I cant knock her for being on her hustle but it’s like she went out of her to alienate her fan base, I mean nose jobs, dating white dudes and shit:) like one of the post said the days of any female rapper moving units is over, unless you Missy and we see how far the fuck she has fallen off. I look for missy to go stright R&B because she can sing, as for Eve, I guess she can go back to making pornos cuz she can work a dildo:)

1st off Eve looks bomb wit’ long hair. 2nd no one realy cares for female MC’s anymore. Lauren & Jean Grey are the dopest ever. No female MC to me was vere that great. MC Lyte, Missy, Lil Kim. They come out wit’ hits but nothin’ really great.
