Yung Joc to Perform at Controversial Fraternity’s 100th Anniversary Celebration

Wednesday Sep 19 10:35 AM CDT posted by xxl staff

yungjoc1.jpgAtlanta’s Yung Joc has signed on to perform at the upcoming 100th Anniversary celebration of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity’s Cornell University chapter on October 12. According to The Cornell Daily Sun, while the University itself has sponsored shows by big name artists in the past, there is “no precedent” for a fraternity itself booking such a major artist. “Not everyday does a frat have an opportunity to bring in one of top hip-hop artists in the world,” said Kevin Mendel, social chair of ZBT. “We had an opportunity and decided to run with it.” Proceeds from the show will go to the Children’s Miracle Network, an alliance of premiere hospitals for children. The Cornell chapter of Zeta Beta Tau came under fire in 2004 when the largely white brotherhood threw a “Ghetto Fab” themed party, at which attendees were encouraged to dress up in hip-hop style clothing and emulate rappers. A party attendee lodged a complaint with school officials about the “apparent disrespectful stereotypes regarding people of color.” The frat later issued an apology.

young joc doesnt know about that racist party and he doesnt care he just wants to get paid because diddy doesnt pay anybody but diddy and his baby mamas. B5 dropped last week and they sold about 19 thousand copies so diddy is a joke as a music exec right now. its sad young joc should have more self respect than to perform for a group that was involved in such controversy.

BREBRE,
Why are you always racist and making assumptions? Even though this Young Joc stuff is bullshit and showing a lack of integrity if Joc knew about the party (and that’s coming from a white person), stop generalizing about white people.

Yung Joc is garbage. This n*gga always looks like he got a stomach ache.

I think it’s fitting that a Puff Daddy artist performs at a racist fraternity. Most of Puff’s acts have been one version of coonery or the other. They should give Yung Joc a bucket of chicken and a watermelon for his efforts.

To everyone thats posted their opinions, I’m a senior at Cornell and I’d like to clarify the story. I attended the party “ghetto fab”, and I must say there wasn’t anything racist at the party. Basically, there were a bunch of dorks at Cornell that tried their hardest to make themselves look like bad ass white trash, but there wasn’t any racist actions taking place. 99.9% of the student body here is pussies. If they went to any other young joc concert, they’d get their ass kicked, so this is like a once in a lifetime for them.

I’m suprised that if anything, a certain fraternity’s annual “white” party hasn’t been mentioned. That name sounds a lot more racist than “Ghetto fab”.

First of all, I’m in ZBT now, and the whole ghetto fab themed party was completely blown out of proportion. No one ever made any insinuations that they were attempting to degrade any race or anything like that. While I do agree that the them itself was controversial, absolutely nothing was meant by it, and I can assure you that the brothers in the house are not racist. Secondly, none of you know jack shit about the house. As of now, the house itself is rather diversified and not an entirely white house, so stereotyping everyone in it, is not only completely unsubstantiated, but just complete bullshit. Give Joc a fucking break, he did us a favor, and if anything, it shows that he doesn’t think he’s too good to come and party with normal hardworking students. If anything, it shows character, and all of you assholes, just need to chill.
