The legendary DJ Grandmaster Flash is preparing for a busy 2008, as the hip-hop pioneer will release a new book and album. Flash, who is the first DJ to use the turntable as a musical instrument, is compiling his memoirs from his historic career into an upcoming book, The Grandmaster Flash Story. Author David Ritz, who also wrote Marvin Gaye and Ray Charles’ memoirs, will pen the book. In addition, Flash is currently recording music for his 2008 album, The Bridge, which will be released on his Adrenaline Entertainment imprint. Earlier this year, DJ Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Currently, Flash stays busy through his weekly show on Sirius Satellite Radio, The FlashMash, and spinning records at New York City’s China Club on Friday nights.
