No doubt the guy can rap, and arguably is one of the best shit talkers in the industry right now (sorry TIP, but most of your record only touches the surface of the deeper individual you have yet to show the world musically, I believe), but historically speaking, and I know some of you are much to young too appreciate this statement (although i know in some place TIP would agree, and as a matter of fact when I met him said this to him, his only reply was “did he say he was?”)but the King of the South as far as rapping has to go to ANDRE 3000…If you have witnessedn this guy’s transformation from the original OUTKAST of Southerplayalistic…to ATLIENS…to AQUEMINI (arguably the greatest rap album ever,period) to Stankonia to The LOVE BELOW…to the present…this guy does not stop evolving in much the same way the BEATLES or classic groups such as PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC, SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE, and even the TEMPTATIONS. Sorry, if i have offended anyone TIP is a great businessman and I have not seen the ATL movie but most accounts I have from it is that it is not that great, more like a roller skating movie with a few morals threw in. I guess one of the major reasons I feel as well as a great deal of others feel ANDRE is KING OF THE SOUTH is because he has TENURE, PROGRESSION, AND THOUGHT IN ALMOST IF NOT EVERY RHYME. It appears to me that TIP is not so much a KING because he is allowing what yall feel is good music to determine what he will put out instead of allowing the music inside him to paint the portrait in his headphones. Surely, someone who has traveled as extensively as this guy and seen so many things whether they be good or bad has more to offer to his generation of fans than banter concerning his youthful drug exploits on almost every song of his fourth album?

I AM NOT TRYING TO KNOCK TIP BECAUSE I KNOW YALL GONNA THINK THAT, JUST WANT TO PUT THIS UP FOR DISCUSSION AND SEE WHAT YOU THINK.

At the time ANDRE DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT BEING THE king of the south but since it has become such a topic of discussion he has made a remark about it in the IDLEWILD MEDLY which can be found on
