Judge Orders Takeover of Death Row Records

sugemug.jpgOn Friday (July 7), federal judge Ellen Carol ordered the takeover of Suge Knight’s Death Row Records by a bankruptcy trustee, citing “gross mismanagement” of the once powerful record label, according to a report by the Associated Press. Knight filed for bankruptcy protection in April of this year in an effort to protect his assets from a $107 million dollar judgment leveled against him in a lawsuit brought by Lydia Harris, wife of imprisoned drug dealer Michael “Harry-O” Harris. Harris claims to have helped launch Death Row in the early ’90s and accused Knight of holding out on her rightful share of the label’s profits. Knight has since counter-sued the couple for $106 million, accusing them of racketeering and extortion.
