I respect what you said but don't sleep on Twista. The combination of not only what he's saying but how he's flipping it is phenomonal. I like Kanye because (just like in the true spirit of rap) he says what he wants to say even if I or anybody else disagrees. Even in interviews (remember the Hurricane Katrina incident)he says it how he feels. I think when it's all said and done, Em will be remembered for opening rap up to white america and helping them understand the power and beauty of rap. If you can recall, at one time and point, the American music awards didn't even have a category for rap because they didn't think it was real music. At one time and point MTV would never play any rap videos when BET was. At one time, America hated rap music and wasn't willing to open it's doors to rap or rappers. Do you know what changed all of that? Russell Simmons-Multimillionaire, Sean Puffy Combs-Multimillionaire, Suge Knight-Multimillionaire. Corporate America began to see that the rap business was making millions of dollars and they wanted a share of that. They didn't give a fuck about the music or it's evolution, they just wanted the money that it could produce. That's fake to me. That's like me knowing a bitch for 10 years and I'm trying to get with her but she keeps turning me down. Then I get on a hustle and start clocking some serious greenbacks and then she's all on my nuts. What kind of shit is that. The same applies to America's relationship with rap. I don't buy that and I hate the fact that the majority of rappers are rapping to please the same motherfuckers who didn't like rap in the first place. That's why I listen to niggas who keep it gutter and say what the fuck they feel. When it comes down to it, that's what rap was really based on "the experience of young black males in america". We know we can't walk up to a police officer and say fuck the police. But we can do that shit in a rap song and make paper off it. We can express our thoughts and feelings and tell the world what we're going through. That's why I love rap so much. If you think about, there's nowhere else that we have the means to express ourselves how we feel it. I think rap needs to go back to what made it what was in the first place "street/hood".

Hey Sho-dog now dont get me wrong nigga i really do respect you in that you understand Raps REAL history not just the last 2 years like about 90% of the people of this site anyways to the point..i agree that eminem ISNT as good as Pac i belive the em is as good as B.I.G. When tupac and B.I.G died.THATS WHEN DRE{another REAL legend in the rap world}
JAY-Z{hes a legend but jigga has been passed by em before remeber "renegade"} KAYNE WEST{NOT a legend ha.. for every bad tupac song is one urban kanye west fan whitch is zero} 50 CENT/G-UNIT{them niggaz are the most fake commercail shit out there aimed at suberban kids ages 10-14 trust them fake ass nuggas dont have any street creed and talk all this shit{50} and CANT back it up they wouldnt last a second in the hood i grew up in} and EMINEM {who back then lyrically had earned it by the time of the Marshall Mathers Lp he had been proclaimed a legend by the streets and suberbia the Eminem Show just continued that legacy} were handed down the thrown from biggie and Tupac. Eminem,Dre,Jigga were the only ones that carried on the tradition of REAL rap. I do belive that eminem is better than twista becasue lyrically em's lyrics make you think more. Method man IS EXTERMLY UNDERATED but hes not accepted in suberbia that is the nitch that those bitches 50 cent and G-unit have caught on to. Now nigga you understand as strong as i do that this is a racsit world and if eminem was black we both know em most likly WOULDNT have been signed but lyrically without hearing his voice you could confuse him for being Black. I do also belive the best emcees in the world were never signed and i completly understand that dre would be a legend without em and person who has REALLY listioned to "the Chronic" would agree. when you said "Real niggas just let the music speak for itself. When Pac was alive he didn’t walk around talking about being the greatest, he just put in work" Thats personally issue for em if hes cocky some people are born at certain time he really had a reason at those time, not compared to the past. Eminem IS and amazing emcess and great actor and a hit or miss producer {"loyal to the game" BIG MISS} and a street poet. but im NOT comparing him to tupac theres nothing to compare there NEVER will be another tupac as there also NEVER will be another eminem. no matter what anyone says they're two very or impressive and distinic styles. as for eminem bein signed by dre that was a bussinuss dusscion and eminem signing 50 was also only thing is 50 profits off of 9 shots in his body he dosent have any street creed many niggas{including myself} hate his fake ass thug image so its not hard to imagin why he has those nine shots.
Anyways back on my points i cant prove he sold less than 1000 "infinte" albums expect alloooot of website links. Also when you said "If anybody claims that they are great, you need to prove it during wartime not peacetime" eminem has served MANY pop icons as well as emcees {ja.Rule,Icp{if you call them rappers} benzio those fagots limp bizkit{they dug there own grave more or less} etc.....} he has done in alot of people but unfortunitly our generation wont see another east vs west rap war agian. Though em has admitted "if i was balck i would have sold half". For my last point " As far as someone being a legend, really you have to wait until someone’s career is over to judge that." Sho-Dog thats what ive been saying all along that will eminem be a legend only time can tell. thats what makes his next album so increible importance because "encore" was a major letdown {my perosnally oppion not all the tracks just some}. but sho-dog i do respect that you {like me} liston to real rap and old stuff not 99.7 percent of the bullshit thats out there today...

San Diego, you are outta your motherfucking mind. Who died and made Em the authority of making rap cds. Pac was spittin out cds left and right and the only one that was wack, was the one that Em produced "Loyal To The Game" because of EMs horrible production. The south is holding it down right now. All major rappers in the rap industry are giving it up to the south right now. You need to stop looking at videos exclusively and listen to the actual cds song for song. Rappers gotta make club songs nowadays because corporate america is controlling the airwaves and that's what they want. They don't want street/hood shit on the radio like in the late 80's early 90's. They want music that they can understand and relate to. Just because EM doesn't put in the work to release cds left and right doesn't give him any authority on what anybody else does. As far as Dre, he said in his song "Hello" that he doesn't make music to stay in the game , he does it cause he wants to. Dre can charge $50,000-250,000 for one track so he doesn't have to make cds. You need to get real. Bow down to the crunk!!

San Diego, I don't know why you made that arrogant ass statement about there would be no good music if dre didn't sign EM. In fact, there's tons of tight shit coming out of the south right now. I haven't seen anything significant that Em has done in a while. Obviously you're limiting yourself when it comes to worth while listening to rap music. Or maybe you just can't relate to the good shit that's out there. As far as building an empire, who are you referring to? D12? I don't think so. Ole snitch ass, putting a restraining order on Vivica Fox, pseudo-beef starting 50? 50 gets far more respect in the commercial world than on the streets. Believe that.

Hey Spurney, like I wrote earlier, EM can rap his ass off but I see that it was more business than anything. There are plenty of people who can spit fire but don't get the recognition. For example, Twista has been the most feared rapper for over a decade. He's in the book of world records for spittn but yet he just recently started getting nationwide props when he signed with Rocafella. That's a motherfucking shame. 8Ball, Bun B., B.G. spit pure fire but they're not such a national sensation in America because the dominating population of America doesn't understand the hood and the real shit that real niggas rap about. On the other hand, the dominating population understands EM (for obvious reasons) and therefore gets more publicity. I grew up listening to rap and year after year I see how business has a high percentage of who is successful than talent. I saw Tupac and Biggie start from humble beginnings and grow to be the two best rappers ever. I'm fortunate to have lived in their lifetime. I remeber seeing Pac for the first time with the African outfit on rapping on Digital Underground's same song. I remember seeing Biggie for the first time on Supercat's video "Dolly My Baby". I remember seeing and hearing them and thinking how their verse stood out from the other people on the video even though they weren't the feature. I followed thier careers until they died. But it's funny how after they died, all of a sudden you don't see people come up through the ranks like Pac & Biggie. All of the sudden out of nowhere, you have people appearing (like Em and 50) and thier supposed to be the best ever. I don't buy that. I won't let the industry dictate to me who I'm supposed to like or not like. I still see people who are as cold and some are colder than Em but they don't get the same recognition. Why do you think that is? I think Method Man is the most underrated rapper in rap today and he doesn't get the props that he deserves. Somebody like EM can be off the scene for 2-3 years and still be on MTV and VH1 every month. Do you think that the dominating population really like rap that much or do they enjoy seeing themselves being represented on top of something that was dominated by blacks? I'm not being racist but I'm telling the truth. Blacks have always been open sharing with other races. On the other hand, blacks historically had to be 3 times better than their greatest great. In fact, look at what Tiger Woods had to go through playing golf. It is hard for a black man to be a race car driver or a jockey. I don't care about Em being white. In fact I really like Bubba Sparxx and Paul Wall. I just feel like EMs career was a major business move that got everyone involved extremely rich. As far as selling 1000 out of the trunk, any rapper can say that because no one can really prove it. I saw his story on Driven and they said he didn't move any units. As far as someone being a legend, really you have to wait until someone's career is over to judge that. If you think about it, there were a lot of people in the music industry, in the media, in politics (black and white) and in everyday life who hated Tupac's guts. Most of them hated him because they didn't understand him just like that don't understand most of us black males. Being consistent with history, people tend to hate what they don't understand. When Pac died and they looked at all of they lives that he touched, the inspiration he gave, the range of talent that he possessed, the real love that he had in him, then they realized that they had the greatest rapper to ever touch the mic around them and didn't even know it. You know someone is a legend when their enemies give them props, when their music stands the test of time and when their music relates to the issues in the days and times that we live in. Will Em be in that catagory. I don't know. Many have tried to compare Em to Pac but there is no comparison. EM couldn't hold Pac's jock strap!! But once again, that was a business tactic for people on MTV to call EM the "white Tupac". To me that was an insult. Not only because Em can't touch Pac but at that time, EM didn't really accomplish anything to warrant that comparison. If you notcie, they did the same thing when 50 came out. Pac was a Pro-black activist, a black panther, a real poet, real actor and the greatest rapper ever. How can you take somebody who just got into the game and honestly compare them to that. Tell you the truth that wasn't even fair to EM and 50 but that added to the publicity and fame that they were searching for. Why do people need to compare themselves to someone else to make them look good? That's a business tactic. Real niggas just let the music speak for itself. When Pac was alive he didn't walk around talking about being the greatest, he just put in work. That's what rappers should do. After Pac and Biggie died, there were a lot of "Self-Made Legends" including Jay-Z. When Pac was alive they wasn't spittn that shit. Pac had the whole eastcoast quite as church mice. A lot of those motherfuckers went underground to diss Pac. If anybody claims that they are great, you need to prove it during wartime not peacetime. As for San Diego, I'm sure Dre has tons of demos with talented motherfuckers on them but Dre's mind is on who he can make the most money with. Not only that, Dre is and would have been a legend in the game without Em. Em needed Dre, Dre didn't need EM. Besides that, there are plenty of rappers who are just as good and better than Em. Em has an advantage over them and we all know why.

Sho-dog you bring up many good points i do admit it was a bussniuess descion not a musical one. As was em's dscion to sign 50 anyways back on course... i do agree with you sayin dre new that em was white dispite what he tells the media "i didnt even know he was white" because ive listioned to some of ems stuff back on the "Infinite" album his voice was as white as can be. thought that sold less than 1000 copies out of his car. but unfortunitly i am not convinced thatludacris is lyrically,emotionally,meaningfuly at the same level wit eminem. i'll im sayin is i am EXTREMLY curouis to see how his next album will be without his slim shady persona and weahter he will be a rap legend or be just another sub-par rapper. thats what makes this next album such a HUGE deal the next album will truly determine weather his influence has been flet or it has slipped from his grasp from the dayz of "Marshall Mathers Lp" and the not as inpressive "Eminem show". Anyways one of the point ima tryin to get across is hes NEVER SAID NIGGA expected when he was 13-years old on a tape i dont belive he is a con because he IS a real rapper no matter his skin color or at least WAS real but unfortunitly these days im not to sure only time can tell is all im sayin.
