Fat Joe to Co-Host NYC’s Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade
When viewers tune in to this year’s broadcast of the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade on June 11 in New York City they may be surprised to see a familiar face standing alongside the network news anchors that typically provide the play-by-play. Bronx native Fat Joe has been tapped by the Fox 5 and My 9 networks to co-host the event with evening news anchors Brenda Blackmon and Ernie Anastos. The Terror Squad CEO, who is a prominent figure in New York’s Puerto Rican community and says he has participated in over 20 parades to date, told the New York Post, “It’s so hard to translate the energy of being there live, but I’m going to try my best to have everyone who’s at home watching feel like they are really a part of the event, and show them what it’s like to be a proud Puerto Rican.” In addition to his hosting duties, which will include interviewing celebrity guests and politicians (including NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg), Joe is also expected to march and perform at the event. The parade, which has been celebrated in the city for over 30 years, typically attracts more than 23 million people along its route up 5th Avenue.
