Florida Authorities Drop Gun Charges Against Young Jeezy

According to a report from MTV, the Florida State Attorney’s office declined to prosecute Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy on two counts of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit in connection with a South Beach shootout in March. Police said that Jeezy and his personal assistant were with a group of men who got into a fight at 5:30 a.m. on March 11 on Miami’s South Beach. The fight allegedly ended in a shootout when a passer-by filming the altercation refused to turn over his video camera. Following the firing of shots, police stopped Jeezy’s car and found four guns, two of which they claimed were “readily accessible” to the rapper. “As we told everyone that day, no weapons in the car belonged to Young Jeezy,” Jeezy’s lawyer said in a statement. “We are glad that he is able to put this behind him and refocus on what he does best—making hit records.”
