I am sure Black power is an important state of mind for an african american but when you start making it into an idiology you just become a bigot.
Historic truth should be taught and prolifirated. Yet, we live in the 21st Century and its about time we start whining, crying and just progress. I know where hip hop came from and that is not the case, it is now a global art form just like classical music. You claim to love Hip Hop, but it is clear that you do not have a clue about the genesis of the art form and culture.
Yes, Hip Hop is as American as apple pie. However, Hip Hop music was born amidst oppressive conditions in the South Bronx. (Poverty, hunger, poor housing conditions, burned-down buildings, police brutality, etc…) Who were the creators? Working-class African Americans (and Puerto Ricans to a lesser degree.) Like blues, jazz, and rock before it, Hip Hop was co-opted by white people out to make a buck off of the creativity and labor of people of color. Since before Grandmaster Flash (The Message), there has always been a political element to Hip Hop. That cannot be divorced from the music, no matter how much finger snapping is going on these days. So if two black men, who are rightfully angry, want to talk shit about the government and even white people, let them speak their minds. Those offended by their message need to get a good history book.
