1988 - Jhené Aiko is one of those songstresses that deserve an honorable hip-hop pass. The mind behind the beautiful mixtape, 2011’s Sailing Soul(s), has worked with a plethora of talented rap artists. Just on the tape alone, Aiko croons alongside Gucci Mane, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and more.

Aiko—real name Jhené Chilombo—has continued to align herself with the game’s rising stars, which is a surefire sign that she’s on her way to stardom. Yes, that’s her on Ab-Soul’s “Terrorist Threats,” Big Sean’s “I’m Gonna Be,” and Cocaine 80s “Fly Ass Pieces.” The girl who linked up with No I.D. to sign with Def Jam is ready to take her blossoming career by the reins.

The “3:16 A.M.” singer is prepping her debut album, Souled Out, in early 2013. She is looking to get back into the studio with the TDE crew, Miguel and hopefully cut another record with Drake. Until then, she’ll be celebrating her 25th birthday in style.
