Nas “Street Dreams”

Casino is a great film. It’s one of those movies you can watch a million times and still feel like you need to see it again. For Nas’ “Street Dreams,” he chose to go with a video inspired by the film and it’s definitely one of his more memorable clips, if for nothing, more the pastel suit selection. Besides, what’s fucking with Hype Williams in his prime?

Cool Breeze “Watch For the Hook”

I don’t think I remember the movie Reservoir Dogs. I know that I saw it, but you know a lot of the memories from my weed smoking days are fleeting. Regardless, I know that this video is a remake of that movie, and this song is also one of the greatest posse cuts ever in life. Is it blasphemous to say that catalog for catalog the Dungeon Family can give Wu-Tang a run for its money? Probably, but I just did. By the way, what the hell is Khujo saying in his verse? Can any of you translate or recite it word for word? I’m serious.

Redman “Whateva Man”

If anybody could pull off a Blues Brother’s themed video it’s the Black Cheech ‘n Chong. This is another one of those movies that I’m certain I saw but don’t quite remember, but this remake is adequate. Whatever, man.

    The scene when they’re talking about the heist and start play fighting in the office.

    Also Busta Rhymes- Put your hands where my eyes can see = Coming to America (enjoyed just as much)

    I think it’s a good question to pose but how can you compare if you don’t remember seeing the originals? I guess some videos may be better than their film counterparts only b/c they are shorter versions which only depict the juicy or pivotal points of a film that most people have seen or know about

    Donwill, you gotta watch The Blues Brothers! It’s a highly underrated Saturday Night Live movie that was a childhood favorite of mines (hell, I’d watch it again if it came on tv). Car crashes, shoot-outs, bumbling cops, Princess Leia going HAM, and absolutely timeless, classic music! Everything a young boy loves. Red and Meth are the shizzits so combining them with that movie made for a dope ass video.

    I would vote for Red and Meth, but I’ll need to see the other videos and some of the movies they’re based on.

    I know some people wil have something to say, but one of my faves was Puffy’s(pre-Diddy) video for Victory w/ The Running Man theme.
