BBU
Fear of a Clear Channel Planet
Mixtape
KOOL A.D.: Okay, me and Dap are at Dap’s parents’ house. I’m on Daps’ dad’s computer and he’s on his computer right next me with a little wall thingy between us like we’re in cubicles. It’s hard to explain, but I think it says a lot about Dap’s relationship with his dad. We’re doing this review of BBU’s Fear Of A Clear Channel Planet mixtape in real time as a Gmail thread. Download the mixtape here if you wanna listen along.
Right from the first track I dig the shit out of this. I like when a bunch of girls shout shit. And I like when fools just list things that they like.
Second track is dope, too.
Wait, I have to go take a shit, take it away, Dap!

DAP: “Jukin’ on Landmines” is GREAT. Mentioning tube socks gets points. I’m also really digging how often they say “cracker.” Really doing it for me.

“Somebody Watchin’ Me” is not bad. Enjoying the interstitial wilding going on in this album.
KOOL A.D.: Okay, got distracted doing other shit but I’m back on my “GRIZZLY.”
Feel you on “interstitial wilding.”
Why haven’t we done a track with these fools?
DAP: Why haven’t you done a track with these guys?

“Black n’ Plastic” is as good as song that flip’s Aqua’s Barbie Girl can be.

“C.H.I.C.A.G.O.” does a good job swagger jacking that Pharoahe Monch intro that people always get too excited about at bad parties.
KOOL A.D.: Phillip Mo’s voice is a little hard to handle but he seems like a nice enough dude.
KOOL A.D.: Points for Evo Morales reference.
DAP: BBU keep calling out scenesters. Am I a scenester? I like hanging out at the same few places all the time. I’m usually not happy, though, so maybe I’m good.
DAP: “The brokest muthafuckas up on the list.” Sorta double time reprise of a song called “Who Da Fuck is You?” I’m SOLD!
[Audio:http://www.xxlmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/12-fly-n-pink-prod-by-shifty-tricks-productions.mp3]
DAP: “Fly n’ Pink” is not doing it for me. Don’t have any feelings!
KOOL A.D.: HAHA
Y’ALL KNOW THE NAME!
Okay, I’m not really feeling “Fly N’ Pink,” I’m sorry.
KOOL A.D.: Oh, my bad, missed when you said the same thing as me about “Fly N’ Pink.” Maybe we should’ve done this in G-chat.
DAP: “Chi Don’t Dance” is amazing. Everybody should know this song. WAKE UP, MOM!
KOOL A.D.: YO, WHAT UP, MS. KONDABOLU!
“Chi Don’t Dance” is an instant classic, though.
Wait… Run that back? Killingskillingskillingskillingskeetskeetskeetskeet is an amazing thing. Maybe the best thing on this mixtape so far.
DAP: The Spank Rock-sounding song after “Chi Don’t Dance” is AWESOME.
KOOL A.D.: Yeah, all of this is great.
DAP: THE OUTRO OF THE ALBUM IS MY FAVORITE PART AND I LIKED THE EARLIER PARTS. Download this mixtape!
KOOL A.D.: YEAH, A REAL GOOD TIME.
HIMANSHU: Say word.
