Wow where does one begin? XXL do you have any idea as to who your target audience is? I know you read atleast some of the comments on this site. I understand you are trying to be diverse in the guest bloggers you choose, but Jesus Tittyf*cking Christ, the majority of people who come to this site not only enjoy listening to hip hop, but we enjoy learning about and speaking on the culture. What you are trying to feed us is BS. This guy has shown that he either won’t or simply can’t speak on hip hop in any sort of articulate way. And he is clearly not the first guest blogger to have this issue. The fact he is unwilling or unable is fine, but know that it is your fault for giving people a forum to speak who want nothing more than to shamelessly promote themselves and keep their names linked to what is supposed to be one of the last legitimate sources for hip hop news and opinions. I live in Los Angeles, one of the countries most ignorant, bloodthirsty, sexually confused cities, so I’m far from region racist. Hell, in many ways, L.A. Is more similar to the south than not, not to mention I have roots in Louisiana, Texas, & Mississippi so I’m familiar with their idiosyncrasies.

That has nothing to do with the substance (or lack of) of these blatantly careless “blog” entries. I don’t blame him, per se, because it’s not his lane, but I tend to stay away from things I’m not familiar with, for reasons such as these comments. A simple “no thank you” would have quelled any further misconception as to his character &/or the “southerner’s mentality” stereotypes. If he’s holding down the South on records, why assume that anything less would be expected in a periodical, digital or otherwise? It’s the chains & whips rationale; traded in one set for the other, with the same outcome, in full swing.

I haven’t read any commentors outrightly saying “Fuck the South”, so evidently it’s not just shot fired. More like a planned attack on a person with little to no idea what was requested of him, & even less regard for how it’s perceived.

He addresses those with opinions of him every time he grumbles “Fuck the haters”, so we get that. Point is, don’t insult the collective intelligence of those who actually look @ Hip Hop as a cultural phenomenon as opposed to the next trap or a paycheck machine. Especially when there’s no moderation to such a shallow attitude.

He has no social responsibility to anyone but himself, but know that when the light shines on you, it’s for all to see, be it good or bad. This isn’t the first time he’s been subjected to objective opinions, nor will it be the last, however, if he doesn’t care enough to do something about it then why should I, or other people?

Like I said previously, this was/is a great opportunity to reach a different echelon of “fan”. If that interfere’s with “gettin’ money”, then just leave it to those who would appreciate it as the blessing it could be & keep it moving. No harm, no foul.
