Who Flipped It Better?- The Whatnauts “Message From A Black Man”

So on the heels of Rza’s Digi Snacks dropping last week, spearheaded by the single, “You Can’t Stop Me Now,” this Nas joint leaked today from his Untitled LP called “You Can’t Stop Us Now.” Both joints flip the opening guitar loop and other segments of the Whatnauts “Message From A Black Man.” Who flipped it better, Salaam Remi or Rza? I personally feel like Rza did it more justice…

“Message From A Black Man”- The Whatnauts

“You Can’t Stop Us Now”- Nas ft. Eban Thomas

“You Can’t Stop Me Now”- Rza ft. Inspectah Deck

bonus- “You Can’t Stop Me Now”- The Temptations

RZA flipped the beat better. Lyrically Nas’ joint is superior. When i heard the Nas joint I swore it was just a freestyle over RZA’s track… I know the Abbot is PISSED!

rza’s is superior. he cleaned up the sample and it seems he threw a pause into the guitar lick. salaam’s flip just sounds like a direct loop-jack from a crusty old platter. oh well. rza’s drums are more complex without being too much as well, whereas salaam’s drums are too repetitive. = my .02

Damn. Classic track. I’m glad these brothers are exposing real music with these creative samples. I call it a draw

Salaam – Gave the sample more of a hip-hop feel with the drums and the snare…also like how he amped up the horns….really nice blend

Rza – Kept it true to the sample …beat sounds a little gritier…a little rougher…i like how he fliped the guitar licks too..shits ill

i think im a have to give it to salaam though just because he takes the sample and amps that shit up…plus the song was just better…couldn’t help but bring that into consideration..

MF Doom flipped it with Mr. FAntastic(who sounds a bit like RZA)

It’s an easy sample to do, but I think RZA’s track is much better. after all, he did invent the DUPLICATOR!!! lol, Nas still sounds good though!

MF Doom and Mr Fantastic win. They flipped the track better than either of these guys and did it first.

believe it or not i like rza’s rhymes more than nas. he kinda gives a retrospective of his career. Nas shows dope imagery but its more of the stream of consciousness vibe he’s been displaying in his lyrics lately

I LIKE THE Kids singing in the hook
    he took that extra step.
i also like how he told the story of his grind as a producer

    MF DOOM.

rza didn’t sample it, he had a band replay it. rza’s is definitely superior to nas’ AND to mf doom’s.
