Real issues we need to think about.

In 1934,there was an attempt to lead a corporate coup against then US President Franklin Roosevelt because the president’s New Deal was seen as too progressive. The congressional investigation into the coup revealed some of the top industry players were involved in the plot including, J.P. Morgan, DuPont, and Goodyear Tire.

    The Cochabamba protests of 2000
These protests were brought on by the privatization of Bolivia’s municipal water supply by the Bechtel Corporation, an American Corporation. Up to one-quarter of the citizen’s income had to go to pay for their water after the takeover and the collection of rainwater was made illegal. Can you believe an American Corpoation would do this to people?

American Corporations have also been guilty of colluding with fascist Europe. As Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini rose to power the business climate dramatically improved as radical leftwing dissenters and democratic bureaucracies were abolished. There was collusion between American corporations and the Nazis during WWII. The IBM punch card computer was used to systematically sort and exterminate political enemies, homosexuals, Jews, and other persecuted groups and Coca-Cola invented the Fanta orange subsidiary so they could continue making money on both sides throughout the war. Recently, several American Corporations such as Chevron, Texaco, Citibank, and Exxon, have been fined for trading with enemies of the United States.

Well known American Corporations break the laws everyday, knowingly put poison in their products, pollute the environment and ruin millions of people’s lives, because it is good for business, and yet no news station (which is owned by one of these corporations) ever talks about the major corporations and their disgusting behavior…

Yet we criticize poor black people at the drop of a hat and make rap music seem like the problem of all of societies ills.

As far as Corporations, we the people are the govt. Corporations are only above the law if we allow them to be. Their psychopath like way of doing business will lead to the destruction of man kind and certainly harms each one of our lives on a daily.

We can, using the law, put more checks on these corporations and stop them from harming us if we tried. The problem is, we don’t do the research…and let the various media outlets trick us into thinking they are presenting us with real issues, like Rap Music being bad, etc.

A rapper has never put harmful growth products in my milk, then stopped some investigative reporters from telling us about it, then stopped the federal govt. from putting labels on Milk products that contain these harmful chemcials which have been shown to cause, among other things, cancer…A large American Corporation however, has…

That money didn’t just disappear as profit, the reason why the water utility was privatised was because the state was unable at the time to pay for infrastructure so the only way to improve the quality was to sell up. The rates charged were farcical as people were unable to pay them, but the reasoning wasn’t just ‘bleed them until they’re dry’. Lots of facts and no understanding is the exact same problem Billy suffers from.

Read a Book? I think what they’re trying to say is get an education. That’s one of the most derogatory videos I have ever seen. Going lecturing people and telling them all their faults as if you have none is bullshit.

    SickBoy-

Oh yes, Bechtel was simply trying to help the poor people? Get out of here with that bull.

At the time, Bechtel worked with the Bolivian govt. to pass laws that made rain water, i.e. rain falling from the sky illegal to gather. Bechtel actually leagally owned the rights to rain water.

The people peacefully protesd and thousands attempted to march peacefully in Cochabamba. But President Hugo Banzer — who was Bolivia’s dictator for most of the 1970s — turned to the use of violent repression. He called out the police, who engulfed protesters in tear gas for two days, leaving six people dead and 175 injured, including two children blinded.

You think they did that so Becthel could help the poor drink water or so it could protect its profits???

The money did disapeer as just profit. Bechtel through the IMF, exploited these people as they do all over the world to the poor.

In a country where the minimum wage was less than $70 per month, many people were hit with monthly water bills of $20 or more.

“Capitalist – the coporations control us”

That’s not true. Corporations haven’t always been like this. You can have capitalism and not be controlled by the corporations.

The American Corporations is all about profit and the bottom line. To change how corporations treat us, we can start enforcing the laws that we do have, for example, the abilitiy to take away a corporations right to do business if it violates certain laws, issue fines that really hurt the corporations bottom line and issue court decisions that favor consumer and citizen rights.

If a billionaire only gets a 20 dollar ticket for illegally parking, he makes the decision that parking in his favorite spot is worth the 20 dollars…there’s no deterrence.

Corporations will violate the law, even at the expense of human life because they can afford the nominal fines, etc. they get. We need to make it not in their best interest by enforcing current laws and making new ones that force Corporations to really be socially responsible.

I read books and I can still appreciate this cartoon clip. Yeah the guy was cursing and carrying on in the video, but his message was pretty straightforward to me. He had to make it humerous because many bros and sistas live in dysfunctional families and situations. They probably won’t question their lives unless you make fun of it.

I think another issue that this cartoon series should address is classicsm. Even if cats read some books and get educated, the widening gap between the rich and the poor still exists. I think that a classicm cartoon can exhibit the similarities among different races which creates a deeper understanding of each other’s situations. For example, bros need to know that white bros also live in a hood and suffer an inferiority complex when they see some bros succeeding in life. The white supremacy poison makes them believe that they are naturally smarter and better than any bro which clouds their eyes to the reality of their mentally and financially improvished situation. If we can all understand this is a class problem more than a racial one, I think we can unify and start making some serious changes to the government. Just some thoughts I had.

  • Esh

I see what this guy was trying to do with the video but “Read a book Nigga” “Drink some water Nigga” Come on now black people come on!!! WTF….

  • Xcesiv4ce

I think what I’m really surprised at is how much controversy this video riles up. All the videos and music that subject women to being nothing more than a fuckable object, encouraging to kill your own people, the promotion of drug usage and pushing to your own people and lastly to better seek help to bring justice, yet, it’s the video that tells you to read a book, buy land, obtain some level of hygeine and take care of your children that is the most offensive?

As a Black female, the most offensive things to me are:
    1) Why are all the Black television shows comedies? (even the ones with serious subjects and roles are still comedies) I like to laugh. I believe that being able to laugh at yourself is healthy, but when do you stop laughing at yourself?

    2) Why are all Black women in music videos on the brink of nudity? Is this an image we have to maintain, that we must always be on the brink of fuckability? Nothing says “He’ll respect me for my mind” like having your ass and tits out. I would be even more angry if I was a hooker because I wouldn’t have anything to wear that is different. There’s a time to be show your stuff off, all the time isn’t it.

    3) When everyone complains and when you call them to action, no one wants to participate. You complain about the government and corporations, but what have you really done to change it? As Americans we are the government, we choose the leaders and can fire each and every one of them, even the president. I was so tired of hearing Black people complain about what the government does to our people, but when voting time came around, they don’t vote because they say “their vote doesn’t count.” Of course it doesn’t count if you don’t put it in. All employers, under federal law, are supposed to allow for their employees to vote on every local and national election. This is not optional, this is a requirement. We can petition our government for change. As for corporations, currently, Blacks have the second largest buying power; however, most of us spend it on useless items. We can show corporations our power by actively boycotting products and companies. Corporations feel the sting through the lack of purchases. This can bring down the price of everything from gasoline to sneakers.

    4) Our portrayal in the media. A Black female cannot win an Oscar unless she has mock sex with an ugly redneck on the movie screen? Was she given that Oscar out of sympathy or to see how far Black people will go to get an award from a white person? What really is the difference between Don Imus calling professional women nappy headed hoes and a rapper or another Black man calling professional women nappy headed hoes? It’s all the same to me because both of you, Black and White, think of me as a nappy headed ho. Why are most Black actors comedy relief in movies? God knows I love the Transformers, but Anthony Andrews played a Black hacker … not just any hacker, the top dog hacker, able to break any code, but he lives at home with his grandmother, has only one computer and no job offers? Had it been a white hacker, he would have had his own little fortress of computer hardware, be rich from monetary exploits through computer hackery and have job offers from everyone and the NSA. Yet ours is a fat cry-baby. Thanks, by the way George Lucas, I’ve been to the Caribbean Islands several times, why the hell does Jar Jar Binks talk like that when none of the real islanders do?

Ok sorry to get on my soapbox, people, but it just amazes me that we can fuss about the things that try to make us better, but none of the things that bring us down. If you want your situation to change, then do something about it.

Thank you and good night. :)

All you upidy muthufuqqas who suggest that this satire is racist are too stupid for words. If anything, it’s utilizing irony and sarcasm to expose the folly of what hip-hop has descended into glorifying. But you hoity-toity negroes is to damn afraid of ANYTHING Black to see that. I’m sure you’ve felt more comfortable if Bill Cosby or Cornell West reminded Black Americans to raise they gotdamn kids, drink water, and READ A BOOK NIGGA!!!!! You whitewashed sell-out niggas make me sick!!!

BIG UPS TO ALL THE PEEPS THAT KNOW THIS IS SOME HILARIOUS SHIT!!!!!
