R. Kelly is no longer on Sony Music’s roster.

According to a report Billboard published today (Jan. 18), the controversial singer and Sony Music have both agreed to part ways. That means Kelly's last album, 2016's 12 Nights of Christmas, will be his final release on Sony Music's RCA Records.

This news arrives just days after protesters presented a #DropRKelly petition with 100,000 signatures in front of Sony's New York City headquarters. Before that, RCA had reportedly decided to hold off on releasing any of R. Kelly's new music.

While Kelly has been investigated for myriad abuse-related offenses over the last 20 years, it was only when Lifetime's Surviving R. Kelly docuseries premiered a couple of weeks ago that the public at large once again devoted a lot of attention to Kelly and his alleged victims. The six-part series explores years of alleged sexual, mental and physical abuse allegations leveled against Kelly, and it served to spotlight what at times felt like a forgotten issue.
