Mac Miller would have been 27 years old today (Jan. 19), so the date is now bittersweet for family, friends and fans of the late rapper.

The Pittsburgh MC died from a drug overdose on Sept. 7, 2018, and the topic is still fresh on the minds of those who supported the Swimming rapper. Needless to say, members of the hip-hop community have not forgotten the talented artist and have hopped on social media to pay homage.

Artists like Juicy J, Wifisfuneral, Chevy Woods and even record labels Top Dawg Ent. and Duck Down Music have all put up memorial posts about Miller. The rapper's former girlfriend Ariana Grande even posted "Miss U" on Twitter, a clear reference to her ex.

Mac's untimely death sent shock waves through the industry. In December, Mac's former manager Christian Clancy penned a heartfelt op-ed in The Guardian about his late friend and client. "He knew the progress he had made, battling his internal dialogue," wrote Clancy. "It wasn’t easy, but he was doing it and feeling the rewards."

He added, "In a world dominated by ego, he led with the soul and lived by focusing on similarities rather than differences – that’s a lesson we all could use."

Clancy said in closing. "I truly miss you, Malcolm."

Mac Miller's latest album Swimming is up for Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
