Fans of both Lil Peep and iLoveMakonnen should be prepared for more new music on the way. The late rapper's new single, “I’ve Been Waiting,”  with Mak and Fall Out Boy, is a preview of what to expect from a joint project arriving this year.

This new track that Fall Out Boy contributed to was first created during the summer of 2017 recording sessions between Peep and Makonnen. The tandem had been working on a collaborative project at the time.

“It should come later this year," Makonnen confirms about the project. "I don't have a date for sure. We’re still working with some titles because me and Peep had like five different titles at the time."

One of the more interesting titles they were considering was inspired by an artist they uncovered in London named Hannah Diamond.

“We were like, Hannah Diamond she’s the best, so we’re going to name our album Hannah Diamond and make it a ode to her, because she was so sick,” he shares, while laughing. “There were so many names we going over.”

Currently tasked with narrowing down the final tracklist from about 20 songs to 10, Makonnen says he considered Peep his creative sparring partner. “Somebody that could challenge your skills and your style to keep making you better,” is how describes Peep. “For both of us it was definitely polishing each other up by polishing ourselves up. It was fun and inspiring. That’s probably my favorite part about it. It didn’t ever feel like work.”

The as-of-yet untitled joint album is scheduled for release sometime this year. Watch the video interview above to see what else iLoveMakonnen has coming up in 2019. .
