On this day, Dec. 4, in hip-hop history...

2007: Having long been established as one of the South's most respected lyricists, Scarface dropped is ninth solo studio album Made on December 4, 2007.

Five years after the release of his most successful and highly acclaimed classic, The Fix, and two years removed from the end of his run as the President of Def Jam South, the release of Made was Scarface's second project since returning to Rap-A-Lot Records, the label on which the Houston legend launched his hip-hop career nearly two decades prior as a member of the Geto Boys.

As an MC, Scarface seemed revitalized on this project, in his own words, referring to the album at the time as his "most heartfelt" effort to date. With an intro from Rap-A-Lot CEO J. Prince and production from the likes of Mike Dean, Enigma, Nottz and Southern hip-hop mainstay N.O. Joe, Made was met with critical acclaim from the jump. Peaking at number 17 on the Billboard 200, the LP also reached number 2 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

Aside from a couple of verses from Dirty South spitters Wacko and Z-Ro, the 12-Track album from the Godfather of Southern Rap didn't contain many features at all, unlike his previous release, My Homies Part 2, which was laced from top to bottom with contributions from many of the more mainstream artists of the time period. Made's only single release, the Nottz-produced "Girl You Know," featured a sample from Lenny Williams' soul classic "'Cause I Love You," and featured Trey Songz on a version that landed itself on the Step Up 2: The Streets soundtrack.

Made comes across as an album on which Scarface sounds inspired, and most certainly holds a special spot among the legend's extensive catalog.
