On Friday (Dec. 28), Barack Obama unveiled his 2018 favorite songs list and, not too surprisingly, it featured a lot of hip-hop. Songs by Cardi B, Jay-Z, J. Cole and Chance The Rapper graced the list. Interestingly enough, Jay Rock’s “Wow Freestyle," which features Kendrick Lamar, is also on the list and the Watts, Calif. artist couldn't be happier about it.

Hours after Obama posted his list on his Facebook page, Jay Rock went on his Instagram account to thank No. 44 for including him on his list “WOW!!!! I appreciate the love Mr President @barackobama !!!” he wrote along with three golden championship trophy emojis.

Being included on Obama's year-end list is just another sign that Jay Rock's had a great 2018. Last spring, the Top Dawg Entertainment artist native dropped his latest album Redemption, which is one of the more critically acclaimed hip-hop projects of 2018. Hopefully he can keep up the good work in 2019. For now, salute to Jay Rock.
