Many hip-hop fans (and Waka Flocka Flame) were upset to hear that Maroon 5 has been confirmed as the performer for the 2019 NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show in Atlanta this year. Fortunately for the hip-hop community, rumors are circulating that Cardi B and Travis Scott are on the short list as artists to have guest performances with the band at the revered event.

According to a Sept. 20 report from Billboard, special guest performances haven't been finalized, but Cardi B and Travis Scott are the two artists being seriously considered. The NFL fueled speculation about the rumors in a statement to the publication, but wouldn't release any information further.

"It's a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show," the statement reads. "We are continuing to work with Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show."

Cardi B would certainly make sense as an artist to accompany Maroon 5, seeing as "Girls Like You," her collaboration with the group, is currently No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. Given her ties to Atlanta through her husband Offset, many have speculated that should Cardi make a guest appearance, she could bring out Migos as well.

Travis Scott, as a Houston native, definitely has a down-south connection. He's also had a wildly successful year since his Astroworld album dropped to critical acclaim.

Regardless of who gets chosen for the guest appearances, Cardi and Travis at least have something else to bond over. Both welcomed their first children to the world this year—Cardi B gave birth to her and Offset's daughter Kulture and Travis Scott's girlfriend Kylie Jenner had their daughter Stormi back in February.
